I read Terry Brooks when I was little. It was my first intro to fantasy, and I loved it. I tried again as an adult, and I found the slow and a bit dull. When the Hawke books came out, I gave them a try and liked them. I've been following that branch and enjoying the books. . . until this one. We are back to very detailed descriptions of gardens and very little action for huge sections of the book.

Now that YA books like the Hunger Games are so popular, I think the distinction is becoming based dullness. These books could be labeled YA. The characters are YA. However, the YA crowd expects faster moving books with better character developments. Please, make sure the story deserves all the pages you give a book. more editting, please.

Loved this book. Rob was pretty open about his own mistakes without trash talking his friends too much. I could have listened to a whole book on the making of the Outsiders. Being from Dayton, the mentions were fun, and his dad is still a lawyer here. Allison Janey and the Sheens are also from Dayton, and they all come back for politic stuff sometimes. Mostly, it was dreamy to have Rob Lowe read to me. ;-)

First, this book is very funny. It is very dark but very funny.

More than that, it is book about people in pain. Some just have crap lives while others have mental illness and addiction issues. Their pain is the only thing they have in common, but it is enough for wonderful relationships, some character growth, and a bit of healing.

I am a fan of most of Nick Hornby's books, but overall, he doesn't make my top 10 list. This book does. It you or someone you know has suffered Major Depression or Attempted Suicide, you will find this book even funnier. Isn't that an odd thing to say?

I think this is the funniest of Franken's books. It spoofs all campaigns and politicians of recent years, but mostly it makes fun of the public. Who but American voters would consider a candidate based on a one issue platform: Rid the world of ATM fees. Having Al read the book makes it even better. I highly recommend.

I have read this book, and I love it. I have listened to the abridged version, and I was very disappointed. The book (around 900 pages) is a beautiful reimaging of the Arthurian legion, spanning the lives of 3 generation of women. Wait for the unabridged audio ( I know it exists) or sit down and read it. This seems butchered.
