I bought books 1-4 in paperback for my autistic son, and figured I'd give it a listen (I try to read whatever he's interested in so we can talk about it later). I was pretty impressed! I would have gone nuts for a series like this as a child (I am a big fan of Harry Potter/Narnia/LOTR still!) Since I work on a PC all day, I listen to many audio books and wish I could trade some of the awful adult ones for this series! But I have to say that I really liked the narrator. He sounds like my 12 yr old son would if he could get the emotions/inflections just right. The story was entertaining enough for me to pick up the rest of the books! Riordan and Jesse (the narrator) did a good job in my opinion, and I will be purchasing more if he does indeed go on to another series.

After enjoying the Percy Jackson series, and being somewhat disappointed by the "39 Clues-Book 1", I was unsure how this one would sound. I was surprised to find that I like this one more than the Percy Jackson series, mostly due to Katherine Kellgren's narration. Funny, with interesting Egyptian facts, I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series!

I really enjoyed this book. I know many people don't like comparisions, but I consider her along the line of Alice Hoffman. I also have the Sugar Queen, although I think this is the better book of the 2. Her books have the thread of a touch of magic which I like. Personal preferences aside, this one is worth a listen, especially right now at this week's sale.

This is the first Gaiman book I've ever read/listened to, and I was not disappointed. The story was good, but the narration by the author was the best part. I believe I wouldn't have been as impressed if anyone else had narrated. Gaiman has the talent of a great author coupled with a rich voice, inflection and personalization of the different characters- as someone else mentioned, I would buy ANYTHING he narrated. Extremely enjoyable, I find myself hoping for a sequel! The story had me listening late into the evening, wanting to know what happened. I think this book is suitable for anyone over the age of 8. A bit spooky, a bit sad and humorous at the same time. Not the best book ever, but one of the better ones I've read. Worth a credit? Absolutely! The only thing I found disconcerting was the volume of the music between chapters- I think it would've been better at a more subtle volume, instead of drowing the narration of the first sentance or two of each chapter. For Gaiman fans, a must, and a great family listen for all!

I really enjoy the "Plum" series. Witty and enjoyable (but short)! I've read all the books, and listened to most of the series and I have to say that Lorelei King makes these books in audio format. There were a few in this series narrated by CJ Critt and Lori Petty, and I couldn't get through the book because of the awful narration.
I love Lorelei's "Lula" voice- hysterical, and Martin Munch sounds like an older version of Steve Erkel. Not too fond of the "Diesel" voice, but I guess you can't win em' all. I will continue to purchase this series as long as King narrates them.

Like the book- hate the voice used for all the Dragons. Saphira is a female dragon but for some reason Doyle believes her voice should sound just like Cookie Monster from Sesame Street.

I could deal with the horrible mispronounciations, the awful attempts at certain accents and the boring narration...what I cannot abide is the fact that you can hear someone else having a conversation in the backround though the entire book. JUST TERRIBLE.
