I had trouble with Melody, the female main character. I just found her annoying and hard. If I was Harlan I would have left her after the first week. She's not very likeable.
I have read so many better books in this genre, I know I can find more.
Accents needed some work. The Scottish one especially.
None I can think of.
Women are raped over and over. Many scenes of chasing, fighting and men behaving badly, (how many bandits can one small group of people encounter?) Periods were the plot is not being moved along at all. I won't be reading more by this author. I started advancing the book by chapters just to get through it. After a while you just think, "enough already!". I didn't find this "romance" very romantic and didn't particularly care about any of the characters. The narrator wasn't horrible, but her accents need work. It's disappointing to me that Audible has offered a large group of books by this author, but has not completed other excellent series.
The series started out well, but in books 3 and 4 nothing much really happens. Until the end of the book that is, which just seems a set-up for the next one. However, having come this far and will read the final installment. Just hoping for more story line and looking forward to resolution. Of course, I will listen to almost anything read by Phil Gigante.
