I commute about 3 hours a day so I go through ALOT of books! I prefer stories that take me away from reality... what does that say about me

A phone call to his sister leads Flex Sheridan into a nightmare and a quest to save his family from a new, horrifying epidemic that's turning humans into zombies. As he makes his way from Georgia to Gainesville, Florida and back, he picks up old and new friends and survivors. What did you love best about Dead Hunger?

The reader, and of course zombies

Would you ever listen to anything by Eric A. Shelman again?

    probably not

Would you listen to another book narrated by John M. Perry?

    yes

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    no

    Any additional comments?

These characters would never survive a real zompocolypse. The writing contradicted itself multiple times, there were never explanations, like why the lead was carrying a gun to visit his sick sister before he even knew about the zombies, and why would you leave someone at the CDC simply to tell people there was no one there... leave a freaking note for heaven's sake, not to mention how these "everyday joes" knew how to use machine guns in the first place.. And the wanton waste of ammunition made me cringe. That being said, the characters were likable enough... even if a bit wimpy and the reader was great.

Scranton, the strangest city on earth has an uneasy “live and let unlive” relationship with the supernatural. But when a vamp puts the bite on an unwilling victim, or some witch casts the wrong kind of spell, that’s when they call me. “My name’s Markowski, a Detective Sergeant on the Scranton PD’s Supernatural Crimes Investigation Unit. I carry a badge. Also, a crucifix, some wooden stakes, a big vial of holy water, and a 9mm Beretta loaded with silver bullets.”

What disappointed you about Hard Spell?

The narrator. He is the worst perfomer I have ever heard. His "voices" are ridiculous. It sounded like a stupid cartoon. I was unable to get past chapter 2. And that is a shame because the premise of the story seemed like it might be really good. But I will never listen to this narrator again.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

never finished it. I will be returning it due to the ridiculous performance of the narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    He destroyed it.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    disappointment.

    Any additional comments?

Please! re-record this book with a good performer.

Shredding monsters is his stock and trade. He sniffs them out, tracks them down, and corners them. End of story. But when the tables are turned, expect the unexpected . . . Knowing his enemy is a rule that Deacon Chalk swears by. But he's never seen anything like whatever is leaving the Atlanta Zoo's most dangerous predators bloodless, skinned, and hanging high in the treetops. And he’s only got until sunrise to keep it from turning the entire city into a slaughterhouse.

In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Someday soon, the soldier will have to open the hatch to his bunker, and step out into this new wasteland, to complete his mission....

What did you love best about The Remaining?

It made a "zombie" virus almost seem plausible!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The best part of the story was definitely the 1st half. I was completely hooked from the first word. Extremely interesting, great characters and plenty of action. What disappointed me was the 2nd half. The hero of the story, who in the beginning was awesome, started making some pretty silly decisions and there were suddenly a bunch of times when I was "out heroing" him in my mind...wondering why he was doing that etc. Don't want to give anything away...

Which character – as performed by Christian Rummel – was your favorite?

    The lead

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

yes, I didn't want to stop listening despite my disappointment in the 2nd half

    Any additional comments?

I will definitely listen to the sequel. It was well worth the money and time.. I have high hopes for the 2nd book.

What would have made Three better?

Explanations about what the heck was going on! I THINK that somehow "Tech" had taken over the world creating "weeres" (how it was pronounced.. but no explanation how, no idea really what they were talking about really

What do you think your next listen will be?

    The remaining

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is very good! Great accents, great voices, dramatic and funny. He was the only redeeming factor in my opinion

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    disappointment

    Any additional comments?

I REALLY wanted to like this book after reading the summary and because I love Luke Daniels, however, I spent the majority of the book very confused. I didn't develop any feelings for the characters and listened until the end just hoping there would be an explanation of this world. Didn't happen.... the end was quick, silly and made no sense.
