Jubal Sackett's urge to explore drove him westward, and when a Natchez priest asks him to undertake a nearly impossible quest, Sackett ventures into the endless grassy plains the Indians call the Far Seeing Lands. He seeks a Natchez exploration party and its leader, Itchakomi. It is she who will rule her people when their aging chief dies, but first she must vanquish her rival, the arrogant warrior Kapata.

    Overall

Our family LOVES the Sackett Series. It's to bad that Louis died before he could finish all he intended in the series. The history is fasitating, the chacters are real as you listen to the story line. Each book goes along with the others but does not have to be in order to understand the story. We have listened to several of the stories more than once. In fact we had most all of the Sackett books on tape or CD and are now purchacing them all over again through Audible. Anyone interested in early American history and lore will appricate all of the series. Jubal Sackett is the longest of the books in the series, and our favorite, so far.

Larry McMurtry's American epic, set in the late 19th century, tells the story of a cattle drive from Texas to Montana, a drive that represents not only a daring foolhardy adventure, but a part of the American Dream for everyone involved.

We loved the made for TV movie! But not so happy with the content of the story as written in the book. There is to much sex and language! We love the westerns of Louis L'Amour but these books don't compare. We will be pretty desprate to listen to the rest of the books.
