Psychologist Alan Gregory is living through a season of discontent. With a new daughter, a wonderful wife, and a prospering career, he has little to complain about but lots of regrets: past cases that won't let him go, patients who don't get better, and a growing unease with keeping secrets. But Gregory has two new patients who will drag him out of his introspection and dare him to enter a storm of injustice and revenge.

Where does The Best Revenge rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

I love you Stephen White; you are absolutely one of the very best storytellers in the world. This book, The Best Revenge, I believe, is one of the best mystery thrillers written. The plot turns this way and that and is always surprising with its twists and turns. The characters are well drawn and the book draws you in from the very beginning; impossible to put down until finished. I was immensely satisfied and, once again, the narrator, Dick Hill, did an excellent job.

What other book might you compare The Best Revenge to and why?

I can't think of any books in particular however the Dr Alex Delaware series comes to mind written by Jonathan Kellerman. Kellerman's Dr Delaware plays a similar role to White's Dr Gregory in the series and is a forensic psychiatrist. Both series are excellent and I highly recommend them.

Which character ??? as performed by Dick Hill ??? was your favorite?

While Dr Gregory is. as always, an intelligent analyser, and most of the story unfolds through his perceptive eyes, it would have to be Tom Clone, on whom the story focuses. I just loved the way White cleverly toys with the reader who can't help but change his or her mind continually as to Clone's guilt or innocence. The range of emotions this character elicits is quite phenomenal.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, the portrayal, the story and the thoughts of the beautiful and empathetic character Bokor (spelling?) - towards the end of the book and as described by Dr Gregory - serves to highlight the essence of the story; the terrible devastation wrought by humans on others individually as in Tom, and in numbers - as in 9/11.

    Any additional comments?

    thought provoking book........

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

The performance carried the book, in my opinion. It kept my attention for the most part, but the not the whole part. Towards the final 2/3rds, I found I wondered off a few times. This is something I have never done with Stephen King book before. I am disappointed to say, I found the book a bit formulaic - typical King, the names, dates, & places changed. Perhaps, though, I am being a bit too disparaging; afterall I did enjoy the book and would certainly recommend it to all you young at heart readers who enjoy some thrills in your lives.

After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

I just loved this book and was so sad when it was over. Eloquently written with simply clarity the story so brilliantly performed by Robert Glenister takes you right into the life of the main protagonist who gradually reveals the lives of all the party's to to the main plot. There is a love story too, isn't there; a gentle one insinuating itself into the story and still unfolding and that will hopefully be consummated some time in the not too distant future.
This was an excellent mystery, not a thriller, it didn't have to be to keep me enthralled, and was intelligently thought through right from the very beginning until the very end. Cannot recommend it more highly, knowing you will enjoy it as much as I did. Let's hope that this becomes the brilliant first in a new series by the esteemed author JK Rowlings aka Robert Galbraith.

Scotland Yard’s new chief inspector Nicholas Drummond is on the first flight to New York when he learns his colleague, Elaine York, the "minder" of the Crown Jewels for the "Jewel of the Lion" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was found murdered. Then the centerpiece of the exhibit, the infamous Koh-i-Noor Diamond, is stolen from the Queen Mother’s crown. Drummond, American-born but raised in the UK, is a dark, dangerous, fast-rising star in the Yard who never backs down. And this case is no exception.

This would have to be THE WORST book I have ever tried to listen to. The narrators were just terrible; that phony British accent was just too much! I got nearly 1/2 way through part 1 and just couldn't force myself to go any further. What were these 2 women writers drinking when they wrote this rubbish and what were the narrators smoking; it all must have been bad stuff. Take my advice, write separately girls, you do a much, much better job. I'm afraid I won't be on the list to buy anymore of your joint efforts - no pun intended. Thank god I can get my credit back.

Lutz' books to date are all very formulaic; the plots somewhat similar. Having said that though, I enjoy them. The writing is tight; you never get bored or think that the part you are reading should be shortened. If anything, a little more development might make for a 4.5 star read. The plot moves on at a great pace from past to present and back again until the two collide. This is not great literature, but the dialogue is snappy and there's a sprinkling of black humour to lighten the blood and gore of which there is plenty. All in all a good read which I recommend to those who are not squeamish.

I you just want a fast paced thriller with tons of action and cracker dialogue then this book is not for you. This is more of a literary journey for both the writer and the main character - also a writer, Joseph Vaughan. Much of the prose is quite beautiful with one sentence forming a complete paragraph and where punctuation is all important. The performance of this beautiful prose was an outstanding effort by Mark Bramhall, an actor who I had not heard of before, but who I will look for again. I relished this book and each word written and because of the excellent writing, I did not want it to end. I highly recommend this book to all readers who love GOOD books.

I have been looking for a good thriller/mystery writer for a while now to fill an ever increasing gap in my library, as I've exhausted supplies of my usual good thriller writers. I came upon some good recommendations from other readers in regard to Brian Freeman, so I gave him a go and am more than satisfied with the result. The burying place, a multi-layered thriller piece, has an array or interesting characters and the plots moved along nicely switching from one to the other until they culminate and entwine at the end. Joe Barrett did a good narration, although some of female voices were a bit gringy. Thank you Mr Freeman for supplying me with quite a few books for future satisfying reads.

I really enjoyed the wry humour the author injected into the book through his main character, Dr. Nate McCormick who told us this medical techno thriller story as it unfolded.
The only criticism I had was that sometimes it just went on and on a bit long before the story changed it's tack. With a bit of clever editing the book could have been reduced from a long 16 hours to a more faster paced 13, thus saving 3 hours of agonising detail. Apart from that the plot was quite interesting and actually believable. The story moved along well and the ending was OK. I will read more of Joshua Spanogle's works and hopefully his future books will rate 5 stars with a bit more experience. Recommended, for a reader looking for a thriller with subject matter that's a bit different.

From Atlanta's wealthiest suburbs to its stark inner-city housing projects, a killer has crossed the boundaries of wealth and race. And the people who are chasing him must cross those boundaries, too. Among them is Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose marriage is hanging by a thread and whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career. And Angie Polaski, a beautiful vice cop who was once Michael's lover before she became his enemy.

Very nearly excellent! A very well crafted plot with different stories woven together, in different times of the main characters' lives. We were brought to the present from the past with consummate ease which is often a stumbling block by many authors. I am enjoying the ongoing characters in the series of Will and Angie and look forward to see how they are fleshed out in further books. John, the character on whom the book was centered was depicted well, his sister and other family relationships illustrating the depth of his intrinsic goodness. John's cousin, Michael's character was also well developed and all in all the plot and the characters made for an extremely good read. Great thriller : highly recommended.

The first third of this book was quite different from the rest, leading me to believe that the author may have written two unfinished books over a period, finally melding them together in this book and did not do a particularly good job with the meld. This was a strange and disjointed book and, because of it, you could certainly call it a thriller and a mystery. The writing and dialogue was OK and the book moved on at a reasonable pace, but really it did not make a lot a sense to me. Perhaps, this is because am an Aussie and didn't get the 'big cat' thing in the last two thirds of the book. I found the exercise to take these cats photo's in an extreme adventure environment all a bit silly and the reason for it did not ring true but just contrived. The plot surrounding the baddies was very convoluted and also highly improbable. In most thrillers, I can suspend my belief in reality, but this one was just plain bit silly in parts. The only thing that saved this book was the narrator who did a commendable job in bringing this book to life. In the end, though, I think there are a lot better offerings in the thriller genre on Audible, if you just have the time to look and sample....
