"A Pleasure to listen to"
I enjoyed this book incredibly. I couldnt stop listening. The characters are wonderfully rich and engrossing. The narration was first class. I loved the accents and dialects. I was lost in the place and time(Mississippi 1960s). Enjoy your time with this book.
"Great Historical Read"
This was the first novel I listened to by Bryce Courtenay. I found it very engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. I listened to Brother Fish next and could not finish it. It was too similar and the narrator sounded the same for the characters and I kept mixing them up in my head. So my advice is to not listen to them too close together. If you are looking for a credit worthy novel for a long trip or long weekend this is an excellent book.
"Really great read"
I enjoyed this book alot. I did get confused and went back and relistened to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It was fun to listen again and then the characters were fresh in my mind. Pay close attention to names as they are Swedish and you need to remember all the characters as the book progresses. Credit Worthy. A lot of fun
"Wonderful book."
Oh how I enjoyed this book. It was artistically grand with the best visualizations inspired by the author. The metaphors were often more fascinating then the content. This is a very cute book and doesnt leave you screaming about how stupid the characters are for taking the abuse dolled out to them. The character Truly makes you believe in the inner strength of people.
"great read"
What great fun this book was. I listened for 3 days straight. I couldnt stop listening. It made me want to go tour the great Cathedrals and ancient churches. I gained a new perspective on the hardships early civilizations had. The influence early christianity had on communities and cultures was also quite the eye-opener. I did get tired of our heroine always getting beat up though. I would highly recommend it to those who enjoy the epic journeys.
