"Intriguing!"
The well written story and characters
Intrigue
She reads well, and has a nice voice, although without acting ability.
No extreme reactions, but it held my interest from beginning to end.
I enjoyed a book that actually had a story without violence, although violence was alluded to, and without steamy sex scenes....more of a love story.
"Cute Story"
I liked the fact that the story was a little different than most switched twin stories. With a different narrator and less explicit sex scenes I would have given it a higher rating..
I would have made the sex scenes less erotic.
The narrater detracted greatly from the book. It would have been more enjoyable with someone capable of placing more emphasis where needed and with better acting ability.
Can love discover the real Miss Devine?
"GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!"
It was a wonderful love story of how the reality of war changes people, and to what depths some people will go for love.. A wonderful, emotional love story, read with feeling.
All players had strong characters, even the butler is memorable. They all had different personalities and strengths, but if I had to choose just one, it would be Mercy. Mercy lived up to her name, giving so much of herself for others. She made mistakes, but for the right reasons.
Her ability to change her voice, and put such feeling into the parts is truly commendable, certainly creating word pictures better than most readers could do for themselves. She is a true artist. I now look for audiobooks read by her.
An emotional, passionate love story in the aftermath of war.
"SLOW!"
The actual story was not bad, but was poorly written. Although the narrater had little to work with it could have been read with more emphasis on each character.
The first 3 chapters was what the cop wanted to do to Del, and what Del wanted to do to him. It was so slow, I didn't think I could finish it, but then decided to forward to the next chapter, listen a few minitutes and go to the next chapter...and doing it that way I was able to get the gist of what was happening and get through it.
Not enough voice fluctuation.
I would rewrite the whole thing. Rather than just going over and over how sexually attracted Del and Mick were to each other, I'd give a little background on the main characters, bring their lives up to date when they finally meet, so the listener would at least know something about the characters and maybe it wouldn't seem so unrealistic. It appeared the author needed to write a certain amount of chapters, so filled in with MUCH repitition, and no substance.
"Has Everything a Book Needs"
Yes! As an avid romance reader the story has everything, in my opinion, to make a book enjoyable. It keeps ones interest, and if possible I would like to have listened to it all at once, but it's too long.
There were many, and I don't want to give anything away, but toward the end when Simon's wife tries to save his life, the author and narrator conveyed the emotions well.
There were several.
Both.
It's one I will listen to again.
"A Great Sleep Aid!"
Yes, if they have a hard time going to sleep.
As I said, IF someone needed help getting to sleep, I would recommend it. Even if one falls asleep, they can still follow the story when they wake up. It gets somewhat interesting about the 9-10th chapter. I did not dislike the book, because I had a good nap, but I wouldn't listen to it again.
She did a good job differentiating between characters (that is what woke me up), but the majority of the reading was monatone. She has a soft pleasant voice.
Yes, it inspired sleep.
The story was rather sweet, but boring.
"Very Interesting!"
One of the best!
It kept my interest from beginning to end, can't say there's any special moments.
I can't remember if I've heard her before, but she's good. A pleasant voice. Some voices are not easy to listen to, but hers is.
Yes!
I enjoyed this book more than any I've heard in a long time. I would certainly recommend it to others.
"Excellent Performance"
I enjoyed it.
Yes, I would recommend it. It was different than most love stories, and although the first part was a little slow, the second part was interesting. It was worth listening to.
Harry
I enjoyed the humor.
The performance by Rosalyn Landor made this story. Her ability to change her voice between male and female were exceptional, making the story interesting. Without her, I think it would have been hard to follow.
"Romance and Intrigue"
Yes, it's nice to be able to sit back and picture places and people in your mind, while described by a professional reader.
There were several points of interest that are memorable.
I think by listening, rather than reading it myself, it's easier to picture the surroundings, picture the different characters, etc. more clearly in ones mind. She did a good job changing her voice for the different characters.
Yes, I did listen to it all in one sitting.
Any romance lover should enjoy this audio.
