The last thing Sid remembered was being enlisted to protect a vulnerable young woman in the coastal town of Sea Haven. His name is Lev and he was rescued by Rikki when he was on a ship that was went down near Sea Haven (from the last book in the Sea Haven Sisters Series). He isn't there to rescue anyone and he isn't needed to rescue Rikki either. She's a strong woman that can rescue herself - and does so.

The story is laid out as a first in the new series and I felt it lacked a little more of the introduction and connection to the other characters that were coming in the series within this book. Rikki is supposed to be close to her sisters and though not too close due to her condition the reader isn't given much information on the sisters, just a brief introduction to them with a little more for one of the other sisters. Of that I feel the story lacked the connection the reader should have as this is a series. The story does have it slow points, but I feel that the character Rikki needs this... and the action warms up in the last 1/4 of the book. If you've read the previous series it's a little reunion with Jonas and Hannah - just a little bit, but you are reminded of the history... some of which actually isn't resolved by the end of the book. This was disappointing to me personally as I feel it should have been resolved and done so in this book - but I can hope it does so within the next coming books in the series.

The narrator for this story didn't do a great job. She didn't make the male characters sound... well, male. Everything kind of blended when it came to character identification. I wish that the narrator for the original Sea Haven series had done this one. Also I feel that the narrator went to far in assuming what a high level Autistic adult would sound like. At times she was fine and at other it felt like a speech pattern was used that was very "different". Be consistent. Also the tone of the story was slow due to the narrator. Lastly the audio had an echo which can be quite disturbing. If you start and stop the story quite a few times this might be a huge problem.

I purchased this for the Molly Harper story more than anything and was not disappointed. A cup of humor, a dash of old friends and a pinch of vampire culture - cooking style. It's a great story I've already relistened to it again. I think it's worth the credit for Molly's story alone.

The series was written 1-2-3 but should have been written as a continual story line to it's conclusion. Because of this the transitions from book one to two to three were a bit choppy. For this book in particular the individuality based solution/conclusion was illogical; though an explanation was given in the story for this, it just didn't hold up for me.

Yes, but to tell would be giving a major emotional scene in the book away. I will say that there is a sense of conclusion to an open emotional issue that is resolved and though sad, I'm happy it was resolved.

Though the series had some issues for me, I did enjoy it and happy endings always make me smile - so a smile for the happy ending.

I really liked the Quinn - the main female character. She really comes across as one of those people you want to meet in real life. Fun, happy and cheerful. Out of all of the books in this series I like this one the most for it's romance story.

The only thing that I didn't like about this book was the ending/transition to the next book in the series and the "event" at the end. I felt it could have been more thought out to be more impactful. Also I feel that this series out of all that I've read of Nora Roberts is the worst when it comes to that transition from book to book. I think Sophie Eastlake does an amazing job of narrating this series. Listening to the book is a whole new experience of the story. Sophie is able to express the emotions of the characters spot on which really enhances the characters and enjoyment overall.

Pia, the main female character. Pia is growing stronger side by side with Dragos and Sophie really brings out her feistiness as well as her compassion and love. Sophie truly brings Pia, and all of the characters in this series, to life.

I really enjoyed this book and the series as a whole. I find that Thea Harrison has not only created a wonderful world for her characters, but provides a balance in her characters and story line. There is laughter, fun, adventure as well as bad things that happen that do create sadness and pain. The flow is wonderful and yes, each book has a happy ending in its own way. This book was especially great as it was revisiting Pia and Dragos from book 1 in the series. Like any real relationship the story doesn't end at the mating - life goes on with it's challenges, hopes and dreams and it was a pleasure to listen to a new adventure for them as they continue to grow as a couple/family.

I personally had a hard time with the narrator for this story. I enjoyed the story enough to get the books and read them... but the narrator came close to ruining the audio version for me. His male voices are great, but his female voices are horrible to me.

There were multiple moments in the book that were wonderful and moving. Nora Roberts does a wonderful job of balancing details with the story plot line and emotional flow of the story.

This is a great story that I enjoyed. It is classic Nora Roberts, so expect as such.

Underdog, Fighter, Emotional

I liked that the main female character was strong. She's a single mother that has been through hell and she has so much pride and determination. She has her low moments but can really keep her chin up and keep fighting. It's a little heartbreaking to see the amount of pride of determination she has to survive a situaiton that mainly wasn't of her doing.

I'll admit to crying during multiple times during this story. I'm emotional and thinking of a single mother going through so much for things that she really didn't do wrong. It was very heartbreaking for me. I felt that she was doing nothing more than trying to do the best for her daughter with a past that just wouldn't go away and it was hard to endure at times. Though there is a happy ending it was hard to get past all the sadness to feel happy with the happy ending. I think if there wasn't SO MUCH of the hard times I could have been more happy, but I give Marina Adair props for creating a really strong female lead that I feel emotional about and definately was rooting for her till the end.

Aside from the story it took me a bit to get used to the narrator. I didn't favor her normal reading voice, but did enjoy her character voices.

First I want to say that I beleive all romantic novels should have a happy ending. Yes, the main characters do get a happy ending, but not so for quite a few of the supporting cast. Maybe this is for future stories and maybe not. In any case it left me feeling a little incomplete come the end of the story. I do feel that the first half of the book dragged on a bit. And for being chacters in their 30s it felt like a lot of teenage angst! I rolled my eyes a few times at this as there are scenes where I just wanted to yell "Make up your mind!" Maybe the main character just wasn't strong enough for me. For someone who went through a hell of a childhood and is doing a good job of surviving and striving in many ways, the main character is weak in so many other ways. The narrator did a pretty good job on voices, but her flow was really slow... making a book I already felt was dragging go even slower. I feel this book could be condensed to make a better book, but overall it wasn't bad.

Getting used to this narrator takes a bit of time, but what I do love about her is her distinctive voices and comedic timing. I laughed out loud multiple times at the delivery of the main character's dog! This book especially deals with a bit of higher emotions for the main character than other books in the series and I feel the narrator did a great job of expressing these emotions which makes a big impact on the overall feel of this book. In the series as a whole I feel like the narrator really nailed this one better than those before and I'm looking forward to the books to come.

That's a hard one! I liked how the series got back on track for me from the last book. I was very happy for that. I was REALLY happy for the ending!! I won't give it away but I feel like there was hope and a sense of moving forward for the main character that she needed to allow the series to grow - LOVE! I like that the main character is a fighter. She's not perfect by any means, but she's allowed to have a few moments to be sad and feel what every person does - alone. Then she comes back to fight. She fights for who she is and what she believes in... and how can you not root for that kind of character! I like that the book was multi-leveled with the emotional situation for the main character and the mystery case going on. I felt like this book was a well rounded book and we got to see more into the past of some of the supporting cast that was wonderful. I don't think I can keep it to just one thing I liked best about the story.

I highly recommend reading or listening to this (or any) series in order.
I'm really enjoying this series! I feel like each book moves quickly while still taking the time to get to know the characters and the growing complexities of the relationships as well as the world created for this series. I'm really looking forward to more books in the series to come!!!

I highly recommend reading/listening to the books in this (and any) series in order. Though I didn't love the main plot of this book there were still important things going on that fall into the main plot of the series overall. This book felt like the series took a left turn and got a little lost before coming back on track for the next book. There are some important things in this book though that impact the world of the series itself and I feel will have more impact as the series goes on. The main character is still kick ass, smart ass and gets herself into trouble along the way so the story is enjoyable... just a little off for me from where I think the series was going (and where I know and like where it goes in the next book).

I have to say that it took me a bit to get used to the narrator for this series. She reads a little too quickly. But getting past that she does a good job on the voice distinctions and catching the overall feel of the attitude and emotions of the main character.

This is a hard one and the reason why is because the main character is VERY strong so the supporting cast really allows the listener to enjoy her more for being the smart ass character she is. I can't point out one person as the story and plot is impacted by so many of the supporting cast but I will say that I have developed a soft spot for many of them.

Yes... and I did. There is a lot of action and the way that the book is written the ending isn't in any way given away so I lost some sleep to learn how the book ended... and started the next book the next day.

This is number 2 in the series and I highly recommend listening or reading the first book. Though explanations are given as reminders through all of the books as you go, it's best to get the full story from book 1 as it's important to get the relationship the main character has with many of her supporting cast.This was a great book and I'm looking forward to more of the series to come!
