"Waste of a Credit"
I already had bought 'The Winter Sea', which was an incredibly rich story, beautifully narrated. When I saw 'Sophia's Secret', I took the synopsis to mean that this was a sequel. I was really annoyed to find that this was exactly the same book - word for word, only by a different narrator. I could have used my credit for buying another gem-of-a-read.
"Gripping"
One of those rare books I couldn't put down, even in the slower bits. The author has accurately portrayed the emotional conflicts within the characters, who were believable & it was excellently read. The pace started a little slowly, but sped up to be gripping. It had a few elements in it: lost love, mystery, thriller... I thoroughly enjoyed it.
"An Enticing Read"
I only bought this book because it was available on a cheap special price... but I'm so glad I did. It was very well researched, and Dianna Porter did a terrific presentation, especially with the accents. NOT a book for kids, as it graphically addresses the innocent suffering that occurs during times of polical struggle. It took a little while to get into, as the author presented a lot of detail in setting the scene, but worth perservering as the story really blossoms, with the theme of, what sacrifice is enough to protect the one you love? Gripping. Would highly recommend 'Outlander'.
