I rarely give a poor review, but this book was terrible. I read the entire book because I wanted to give it every opportunity to get better. The heroine was exceedingly stupid, yet we were expected to believe it when she came up with brilliant, complicated plans. For example, she has a master's degree in criminal justice and computer programming, was a police officer (fired), and yet she broke into an office and couldn't resist picking up a gun that she found. It went off and blew a big hole in the wall. She blamed the person who owned the gun because the safety should have been on. She also left her fingerprints on the gun. In another example, when a security person made a comment about sweeping the room (meaning to debug it), she kept thinking he was talking about an actual broom. Duh!
This has to be the dumbest heroine in any book. She gets kidnapped three times in two weeks. Really! Her boyfriend is a bully and control freak who never accepts "no" for an answer. Liberal use of the "F" word throughout the book--males and females. I listened to the entire book because I couldn't believe how poorly written it was. Then I found out that this is the first in a series. Publishers--you need higher standards.
