"Great Intro some wonderfully bad/good boys"
Odd, Confusing, Poor Choice
I really liked this intro for the series. Someone else also mentioned that it took them a while to understand that it wasn't based in modern time and I understood that. There was no real direct mention in the first chapter, not the prologue, that it happened in the past. Other than that I loved the story. I loved hearing the struggle between the male lead, Chapel, and the female lead, Prudence.
The twist on a classic vampire story is great. The Holy Grail/Blood Grail story line is wonderful and something that I haven't read before. I'm excited to see how the other members of the Dark Protectors will come into the story and who will they and their mates defeat the enemy in the end.
The narrator is very.........odd. Not bad just......odd. Do I think that the book would work better with another narrator, yes. But I do really like the voice the narrator has for Chapel. It's just the voice used for Prudence and her sisters. It's off and not doesn't really work well.
"Funny, Cute, Quick Romantic Read"
This is a very quick read compared to the other books I normally download but don't let that deter you. It's a funny, cute and quick romance book. Yes, some parts were predictable but let's be honest, ALL romance books have predictable parts. I laughed out loud at some parts and smirked at other. The banter between the two leads was really well done and I'm looking forward to the next book, that I'm assuming will be Maggie.
If you want a great quick beach read or something to listen to while on a flight....I recommend taking a look at this.
"I've fallen in love with a Mad Man"
One of the top ten, hands down. This book was wonderful. I had to listen to it everywhere. Such a wonderful introduction to a series about brothers that I can't WAIT to learn more about.
For a while here I've had such bad experiences with narrators and was disappointed time and time again. Angela Dawe is wonderful for this series and I'm THRILLED to see that they kept her to read for the whole thing. Her accents and the changes in her voice are perfect and just made the experience that much more wonderful.
When Ian and Beth are in his bedroom @ the Duke's house and she shoots straight up off the bed (don't want to reveal toooo much), That scene....was so touching and emotional, and Angela's voice bring life to the characters just made it all the more so.
If you're like and tend to shy away from 'historical' romances...this book...gave me faith in that genre again. I had to go out and buy the 2nd one right away and I allowed myself to even look at more books that are similar like this....This series restored my faith in a genre that I had given up hope on.
"Another Winner by Larissa Ione"
What is there NOT to love about the book, okay the narrator but I'm going to talk about the book first. The story is AMAZING. I love, love, love this story and I thought it was going to be hard as hell to compete with Ares (cause I'm comparing it to the other male of the group that has been published so far) but Than sooooo holds up. He is sexy and aggressive and hot and demanding and pretty much all together perfect.
I wanted to hate Regan for what she did, I really did but I found myself really, really liking her. That is one of the things that Larissa is amazing at...taking a character that we should all hate and twisting it so that we end up rooting and cheering for them. I LOVED the twist at the end of the book and was so surprised cause that wasn't even anything that I saw coming.
And weaving in the folks from UG is perfect. I love seeing the brothers coming into the stories.
Okay now, for the narration. Really???? REALLY??? What were you thinking? What a horrible Horrible choice for narrator. They should have stuck with Hillary Huber from the other books cause she is the best with the voices.
If you can just move past the voice and listen to the story, it's amazing. I highly recommend this and I can't wait for Reseph's book.
"My Favorite book by her"
This is the first and my favorite book by Jacquelyn Frank. It's the first introduction to the Nightwalkers and I fell just a little bit in love with Jacob. He is the wonderful and stoic soldier that is protecting his people with the job he has: Enforcer. Because of a simple shove from Fate he meets Isabella and together they make one dynamic pairing.
I love how they interact in the story and the arguments that always seem to happen between them.
Jacob's book also introduces us to the rest of the Nightwalkers and their world and soon I found that I didn't want to leave. The story happening around them, sucks you in so much that when the book ended I went back and bought the rest of the books in the series without a second thought.
Never have a read a series so unique and different and spellbinding. Jacquelyn Frank has become one of my favorite and go to writers now.
"Good Story but HORRIBLE narrator"
I love the series and Kathryn Smith is becoming one of my trusted authors but this book I'm sad to say is ruined for me by the narrator. She accents are horrible, there is SERIOUS volume issues here. Like she gets to close to the microphone sometimes and she'll sound really loud or high pitched and then sometimes very low or normal.
I really liked Bishop and would have a feeling that I would have loved Marika a lot more if the accent used for her wasn't slaughtering her for me.
Okay about the book now:
Bishop is amazing. I love that he's all MINE and hard ass. To me he very much comes across as a guy that is deceiving. He looks lazy and like he's not going to do anything but push the right button and BOOM, killer on your hands.
Marika sounds like a fabulously interesting character and I like that she is always fighting within herself over the folklore of the Vampires that her villages tell everyone and what Vampires really do and are. I would love it if there was more of the interaction between all the boys, having them meet up and all but I really like the series.
It's a great spin on the 'grail' stories vampire lore. I HIGHLY recommend reading book one in this series.
"Another Amazing Chapter in the Dragonfury Series"
I LOVED this book, even more so than the first one in the series. Cause this I was able to love both the male AND female lead! The story was awesome. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED how it picked up literally right where the first book ends. We got glimpses of how bad ass Angela was in the first book and I KNEW she would be an awesome female lead and was not disappointed.
Coreene gives us teasers at what I think one of the next pairing will be (MMMM MMMM MAC!!) I've officially become a BIG fan of Forge! And am I the only one that is hoping for a Venom/Wick pairing?!?!?!!? I'm hoping that Coreene will give us more info and yes a book on Sloane cause he sounds funny and awesome and fabulous.
Again, let me restate....people that compare this to BDB don't know what they are talking about. BDB isn't the end all, be all that people go on about. I loved Dragonfury and I can't WAIT for book 3.
OH and....the narrator: Benjamin Darcie.......Love him. AWESOME CHOICE!
"Amazing!"
What can i say, I LOVE this series and the book only left me longing for me. I am so hpeing that Jacquelyn Frank decides to write a book about the Nightwalker children that we've become attached to in this book. I would love to see what happened to them.
I love the ending (especially what happened to Ruth) and honestly, one of my favorites in the series!
"Interesting Book....Hooked me for series"
This was a really good book. I liked the idea and the plot behind it. I will admit that Myst (the female lead) drove me insane with her reactions to things and through most of the book I wanted to smack her upside of the head. But there other points I wanted to address. Some of the reviews on here are saying this is another BDB and a rip on JR Ward. JR Ward isn't the only person to write fantasy/paranormal romance books nor is she by far the best. This has nothing to do with Vampires and to compare the two books and authors are like comparing oranges with apples.
People that are hardcore BDB and think the world revolves around all things BDB and Ward will tell you that this book is not worth it, I disagree. I like the idea of half human/half dragons. The guys in the book are interesting and intriguing. The action is good but it does have some slow points, especially with Ivar and the lab stuff but have a feeling that will pick up in the next book.
If you are looking for a new type of book to read but want to stay in the para/fantasy romance world that I recommend this book.
"Skip It.."
This books should have been called Vicious part 2, because that is pretty much what it was. This was all about V and Jane it seemed like Manny and Payne took a backseat in this story and to be perfectly honest, reading his book was about as exciting as reading Phurry's book.
I have to be honest, I was even more upset with the way it seems J.R. is leading us with the B & Q storyline. I'm not liking the way this is going and I think that it's going to be a very big disappointment. I'm worried about the next book now. My advice....skip paying for this book. Borrow it from a friend. Check it out from the library. Just don't waste your money.
