I have to agree with the others who reviewed this. This narrator sucked swamp water.
Acording the the fan site, we need to complain to the publisher who outsource the first 4 and brought the 5th in house. Obviously Gigi never listened to the any one of the previous books and the producer/directory should be put in jail for uncommon stupidity with Al. It look me 10 minutes when the story was at Trent's house to figure out who taw kaw taw was and why we cared and why this new singer we had never heard about was brought up so often.
I will say that Gigi did pronounce Leilines correctly once at 1 hour 21 minutes in part 2. Other than that, I really suggest going and learning how to do the breathing excersises for child birth. That helped me when taw-kaw-taw was said every other sentence with leeeeelines. All we needed was one line with that absurd Al voice saying something like "Rachel Mariana Morgan, do not tap a leeeeeline or I will change into puss-cury or Taw-kaw-taw" Yea, I know, there is a reason I am not an author, but you get the idea.
With that said, the story itself is worth the pain of listening to the author, but I am not sure I will buy the next one if Gigi reads it again.
5 by 5 by 5. Marguerite makes this story come alive as usual.
Kim wrote a great addition.
I am not sure how I got out of order, but I listened to 12 (The undead pool) before this one. 12 Aggravated me to no end for uncommon stupidity. In 11 (Ever After) the bad guys bests bests them through wit and ability. In 12, I really wanted Rachel to just die already so the rest of the characters in the story could move on and have a great series without epic stupidity
(I.E. sure let's trust this guy who has been saying he wanted you dead at every previous encounter. Maybe this time he is nice. Gawd idiotic. )
Anyway, enough about book 12. This one... excellent story line, excellent good guys. excellent bad guys (you really want to hate them all), great twists and turns.
I realize Harrison does not actually read these reviews, but pretending she does... Kim, please, re-re-read this one to see how you should do them and then re-re-read 12 to see how you absolutely should NOT. Rachel is a train wreck but not stupid.
As with several of the other books it's all Rachel's friends that save the day. I was literally wishing Rachel would just die so Harrison could continue the series with the not beyond idiotic "fool me 52 times" characters Ivy, Jenks, and basically everyone else.I have no problem with the main characters being outwitted or out maneuvered but epic idiocy is inexcusable. She's a daemon now, she should be tried and convicted of "Uncommon Stupidity". I am not sure if Harrison is just that bad a coming up with how to set up the rest of the story or what, but the "trusting" the guy who has out right told her countless times she should be dead because she is a demon... Maybe this time he will be a nice guy and (I cannot even call it a scam it was so obvious) not hurt me had me yelling out loud with no one around, "you have to be kidding me."
All that said, still a really good book, but not because of Rachel. Thank you Ivy, Jenks, Newt, Al and Trenton for making this book worth listening to and bringing me back for the next episode of uncommon stupidity.
I had to rate this a 2 for 2 reasons.
The MAJOR reason was the narrator. Like so many series before and I am certain, sadly, many more to come, the publisher did not use the same narrator for this story. I am not telling anyone anything new here. The main reason for my reviewing it is a futile hope that the more of us that cry foul, maybe, just maybe a publisher, some publisher somewhere will actually use the same narrator through the entire series. Lee makes all of the characters into the worse parities of William Shatner as James T. Kirk. It took me a full 15 minutes to figure out who "Peter" was and why I should care about him. And Though a minor character, he turned comical Dullerios Ed into Eeyore.
I will admit, I was able to get sort of used to the poor excuse for a narrator and plow through the rest story and. The characters were made so comical and so unrealistic, that the story did not hold my attention at all like the first three. I would stay up until 1AM some nights or sitting in my car just wanting to find out what happens next. I had no trouble turning this one off at any point in the story.
The second reason I rated it a 2 was because I did not and will not like the, 31 hours of half of the world and then another 31 hours of going back in time and starting with all of the other people we never heard about.
I am not giving up on the series yet, but if Detroice can be brought back, please please please please please.
Pure perverted filth. After listening to only the 1st hour or so, I stopped my player, disgusted with this trash. The scene that ended it, was 3 ?men? picking up a 19 year old prostitute, ?hunting? her through a nearby swap then catching, raping, then presumably killing her. I never let this garbage get that far. Does this perverted author get off on this crap. I am thoroughly sorry I wasted me money and I wish there was a way for me to specify 0 stars. I have herd hundreds of audio books. Some were great, some were not worth the time, but none have EVER made me this revolted in my life.
