"The Coldest Winter"
finally the men of this war got the nod that they deserve. The writer of this book did the men of this war the justice they deserve. I did not want this book to ever come to an end, because you can feel yourself inside these battles. The way the writer describes them. I found myself crying at times, and angry many other times at the way the generals in the beginning of the war was stupid and arrogant and more general MacArthur, that it was a disgrace that they let this man have all these poor men because of his arrogance and stupidity they are dead today. My father served in the Korean War, and never spoke of it. And now I understand why, after listening to this book. The narrator is excellent. I recommend this book highly to time flies listening to it
"Wish it would never end the book not the war"
Absolutely I did recommend it to my brother and my friends who are interested in this type of literature
I read the rise and fall of the Third Reich before I listen to this book and I figured it could not light a match to it but I was pleasantly surprised it was right up there but really what took it over the top was the narrator he was on the money with this Churchill impression .
His impressions and I felt like 10 people were reading this book to me if not 15
Yes there was a moment when the German people were getting burnt up by the bombs when their cities were being destroyed and they were feeling the hell that they were bringing down on the world for the past five years it was a beautiful thing to see them get a taste of their own medicine
Thank God books are still written like this to still remind us of the sacrifice of the brave men and women who stood up to the Nazi aggression so we are reminded in our small lives compared to their lives back in those days when they knew what heart ache was in pain and sufferings. And then a book like this is well-written to keep people interested in a story that has 1 million stories in it. I recommend this book to all let us never forget these people in the past who live these times so we may live our lives today with iPods and audible books I
"Wish all books could be this good"
I can never listen to a book twice but this one I could
What I liked most about this story was the way went back to Montana to the life the main character had as a cowboy growing up in that environment. Then taking you back to the horrors of the prison camp
Hands down he is by far the best of your narrators he is in the top three.
Don't really know but definitely would make a good movie better than the stuff that thay make today
Next time I have stomachache, or a headache I will think of these men in this book and the pain and sufferings because it shows me just how much we can take and still continue and live they are an inspiration. Also I will think twice about buying something from Japan the future even though long time ago, this book reminded me how animalistic they can be. And I also want to say I can't stand Gen. MacArthur that man kills more Americans than the enemy between World War II and the Korean War only God knows how many he kilied with his arrogance and ego trip
"Washington A Life"
I've been listening to audio books for almost 4 years now I always have the headphones on my head and drives my wife crazy. So I am a hard-core listener and I enjoy nonfiction books. This has to be one of the best I've listened I've listened to two other books about George Washington but this one's the top. The narrator also did a good job. For me George Washington truly is the father of United States. I think Mr. Obama should listen to this audio so he can understand what a real president is. This book also is on the New York Times bestsellers and well worth it. My compliments to the author he did an excellent job writing this book. So don't hesitate absolutely download this book.
"Amazing"
This man's story is amazing. This is one of those rare books that you wish would never end from the beginning it was just a little slow but be patient because this guys life is definitely worth listening to I found myself just sitting in the car listening to the story even if I was late for work I really got caught up in the story because Sammy was somebody that I remembered from a kid. I remember watching him on the Ed Sullivan show and always on television with Sinatra and Dean Martin but to really know his life story is surely an amazing story. It's also a tearjerker so be aware
"Unforgettable"
This had to be one of the best I've ever had. The story of Kit Carson is unbelievable it's men like him who helped shape America for the good and the bad. If you like history this book will definitely open your eyes to a lot of things that were never taught in school but things that you wish they would of have taught us. The narrator was on the money he was perfect for the book and if you like American history and a true story this is definitely the book you want you won't be disappointed
"Not worth two credits"
The book is worth listening to but not at the cost of two credits it is worth only one credit. For two credits I was really hoping that it was something that would blow my mind only one other time I spent two credits for a audio book and that was the life story of Frank Sinatra now that was a story that was worth two credits
"Endurance"
I usually never write a review but because this book was so good I had to say something about it. From the beginning to the end the story was very interesting and more because it was true. I think Hollywood should read this book and make a movie out of it instead of the garbage that they make today in Hollywood. You cannot imagine the hardships that these men suffered and the courage that they had don't miss this one you won't be sorry
