Much too silly!

I'm not sure what genre this would be, but it has definitely turned me off from any books by this author!

Easy to understand.

No! I kept listening in the vain hope that it would get better or more interesting. The characters are unbelievable and definitely not sympathetic.

There are definitely moments of humor throughout the book. This is its only redeeming quality in my opinion. I'm still not sure if it was supposed to be a comedy, a historical novel, or a mystery?

No. I thought the book was fascinating at first with lots of mysteries to be unraveled. But somewhere along the line, I lost interest in the characters, many of whom were totally self-absorbed. And the main character disappointed as well, in my opinion. Descriptions of the era were great, however. That part was enjoyable.

I don't know, short of changing the whole story line.

She did a good job except for the fact that her young voice did not seem to fit with the age of the person telling the tale. If she could have changed her voice to sound older at times when the older woman is speaking, it would have been more enjoyable for me.

I unfortunately could see that, and I would not care to speculate!

Perhaps it is my value system that kept me from enjoying this book. In my opinion, adultery is never romantic or beautiful, even though it might be understandable.

Definitely, if they like classic British mysteries and great writing.

I enjoy any of Njaio Marsh's book that show the relationship between Alleyn and Troy. She is an especially delightful and unique character, and I find her refreshing and funny. It is a good mystery as well, with many quirky characters.

It would have to be Troy. I wish there were more books with her!

Maybe the time when Troy first realizes that all the strange events that have been happening at the house since she first arrived might be adding up to something quite sinister and dangerous, and she wishes for Alleyn's return.

Worth listening to a second time!

Interesting, puzzling, engaging.

I enjoyed the characters and the glimpses into the motivations and hidden parts of their lives and actions. They are not all black and white, but complex and interesting. There are still enough likable ones to keep me reading. It is fun to see the beginnings of the developing relationship between Kincaid and Jenna James.

Easy to listen to; not obtrusive or distracting.

I think the climax, although a bit predictable, was still moving.

Great British mystery for fans of cozy and not too gory mysteries. Well written.

If the friend has a good imagination and likes mysteries with humor and romance, I would definitely recommend this book. It is a delight to listen to Barbara Rosenblatt perform all the characters I have grown to love. The characters, the setting, the humor--all of these things combine for a great listening experience.

I can't help but say Amelia Peabody Emerson! She is such a unique character, full of herself and full of a love for adventure and danger. With all her faults and outlandish behavior, she is a very likable character.

Yes, I have listened to many, over and over! They are all like old friends to me. This one was one of the best. For other authors, she does just as well, but Elizabeth Peters' books are my favorites to listen to her.

Adventure, mystery, and romance set in exoctic Egypt!

You can see I am a huge fan of these books, especially the audio. I just wish Elizabeth Peters would write more! Maybe "the editor" could find some more missing manuscripts!

P.D. James excellent writing is always enjoyable to read or hear. The narration was good.It was great fun to meet again the familiar, loveable, and humorous characters from Pride and Prejudice.

I loved the moment when the carriage driver pulled up in front of Pemberley with the hysterical Lydia! She hasn't changed a bit!

I liked all the times when you were allowed to see the relationship and caring between Elisabeth and Darcy, and how their characters had matured over time.

I could not decide if P.D.James was serious, or if this was a parody or satire of sorts. I would be glad to know what other listeners thought! Nevertheless, I enjoyed it a lot!

Mostly I laugh at Poirot's idiosyncracies and Ariadne Oliver's arguing with him. It is all part of the charm.

Please keep supplying me with Agatha Christie mysteries narrated by Hugh Fraser, if possible!
