What would have made How to Write a Book ASAP better?

I'm shocked by the good reviews, but maybe this book is their first on the subject. The author admits this is his 3rd book. His first 2 books you never heard of because they have sold few copies, check their poor sales rank on Amazon. This book is filled with amateur writing errors and then he plugs his high priced courses on "writing" constantly. Ever watch American Idol? Would you pay to learn how to sing from a karaoke singer?

Has How to Write a Book ASAP turned you off from other books in this genre?

It hasn't, I read enough books to know there is always good and bad work, especially now that there is "self publishing", but self publishing and places like CreateSpace, KDL and Audible good for the business overall. Buyers just need to be more careful now.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Hard to tell, he was dealt a bad hand (the book is littered with cliches too). For instance "your book" was said about a thousand times. It seemed it was in every paragraph and sometimes in 3 or 4 sentences in a row. If you combined a drinking game with the phrase you wouldn't get past the first few pages.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, it had an ending and I now have true example of what all the other books on how to write, warned about.

    Any additional comments?

Just a question, will books like this lead to LOTS of 2am karaoke quality books?

What disappointed you about The Kindle Writing Bible?

$7 for the content is a bad deal for the consumer.

Has The Kindle Writing Bible turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I will never buy another anything from this "publisher". $7 for an hour is over priced even it had worthwhile content, which it didn't, compared to 8 hours of real content by works of major publishers.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Matt Stone?

    Fred Flintstone.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, there was about 10 minutes that was OK.

The China Study offers conclusive evidence that a change of diet can dramatically reduce the risks of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. The book is based on the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted, a 20-year joint project between Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. The study surveyed the eating habits of 6,500 adults from all over China and Taiwan and found a direct correlation between diet and disease.

What did you love best about The China Study?

A true expert telling the truth no matter the harm that may come to him.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The China Study?

Too many too mention. This is THE research scientist who provides the truth about our food an health in the us, and the book "Eat to Live" by Dr Joel Furman proves the validity in his medical practice. These are both excellent books written by honest expert authors.

Which character – as performed by Stefan Rudnicki – was your favorite?

Come on Audible, update your crappy system. You sell lots of non-fiction books and they don't have characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It's a non-fiction book, update your outdated software.

Creativity, Inc. is a book for managers who want to lead their employees to new heights, a manual for anyone who strives for originality, and the first-ever, all-access trip into the nerve center of Pixar Animation - into the meetings, postmortems, and "Braintrust" sessions where some of the most successful films in history are made. It is, at heart, a book about how to build a creative culture - but it is also, as Pixar co-founder and president Ed Catmull writes, "an expression of the ideas that I believe make the best in us possible."

What would have made Creativity, Inc. better?

Making it clear that this book was just a memoir about some guy I never heard of or cared about.

Would you ever listen to anything by Ed Catmull and Amy Wallace again?

    Sorry but no.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

There obviously is such a thing as a audio "overacter". Trying to make boring content sound interesting must have been painful for him, and I sympathize. But listening to it was painful too.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Absolutely not. I tried to get a diamond or nugget of gold out of the first 1 1/2 hours I listened to, but I couldn't listen any longer, it was like trying to find a a drop of water in a sea of dry dirt.

    Any additional comments?

This may be great for people who loved the movies or whatever he was talking about that was put out a million years ago, but this offered nothing new or interesting for me.

What disappointed you about Choose Yourself!?

The author states in this book that he has a website and and is the top result in search engines for "I want to die". This book might be a great book for people who would search for such a term, and if this book helps if you are feeling like that, then it deserves praise. But if you aren't searching for that a life line, this may not suit your needs. The author narrated the audio himself, and while that whiny tone from someone who's obviously been kicked around a lot may be just perfect for those that need this book, I couldn't finish it. I tried to finish listening because of all the great reviews, but there was nothing there for me.

This may be an excellent book for those that are really down, and it probably is judging from all the the positive reviews. But if you're doing pretty good already and just want to improve on that, it might be best to pass on this and save the author another bad review. I think the tile is somewhat misleading. A better title may be "How NOT to want to die".

Has Choose Yourself! turned you off from other books in this genre?

Only the ones where the titles don't match the content.

What didn’t you like about James Altucher’s performance?

    Absolutely nothing.

What character would you cut from Choose Yourself!?

There are no characters. There's room for improvement audible.

When Mehmet Oz has a patient whose life depends on losing weight, he calls on Joel Fuhrman, M.D. In Eat to Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss, Dr. Fuhrman offers his healthy, effective, and scientifically proven plan for shedding radical amounts of weight quickly, and keeping it off.

Where does Eat to Live rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am closing in on 1500 books "read". Most of them I've actually listened to will exercising which I have done almost everyday for about 4 decades. Since I have read so many, I can be very critical of even average books. I can honestly say this is one of the best I've read because it has improved my life.

What other book might you compare Eat to Live to and why?

I've read dozens of diet books and hundreds of books on various other health matters. I research and blog on diet and health, so I read through new studies every week but NOTHING compares to what is in this book. More and more of the information in this book is being proven spot on as new studies unrelated to it are published.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Its a non-fiction book, so there are no scenes. Your programmers can remove this question from non-fiction books.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"Medical profession spends billions to buy rights to a book, just to destroy it". If everyone read this book, the demand for medical care would crash.

    Any additional comments?

I thought I was on the cutting edge of health and diet because I read everything, but this book put it all together for me. I've lost the last few stubborn pounds that I've had for a while and thought I would have until I died. My constant sinusitis cleared up by eliminating certain foods, I heard this could work before but never trusted the sources until Dr Fuhrman explained in a way that made me give it a shot. I've thrown out the steroids and will not have the expensive invasive surgery all my "specialist" insisted was the only way. Read this book, learn the truth and live a longer healthier life.

What would have made The Lean Startup better?

An editor. There is so much "waste" in this it nearly impossible to listen to. I have listened to hundreds, and this is the most boring, by far. I bought because of high ratings, were they all employees? Mind numbing bad, I'm sorry.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm not sure but I know it will be FAR more interesting than this.

Would you be willing to try another one of Eric Ries’s performances?

    Absolutely not.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Lean Startup?

    About 95% of it.

    Any additional comments?

I started listening to audios when they were cassette tapes, then cd's etc. This is bad.
