Well, there are so many books to listen to, not sure I would re-listen at this time. Perhaps a few years from now I would revisit the series.

Excellent reading, no difficulty differentiating the characters. The cadence and tone are quite good, makes one forgets it is a reading, more like a play.

Laughed on occasion at some of the writing.

We are fans of Castle, and looked for a light book to listen to together on longer car rides. We listen over 2 or 3 trips, so this is perfect... not difficult to get back into when a week or two apart, and interesting story line. Entertaining, is what we were looking for...

I purchased this book on one of Audibles' recommended lists... and we listened during a long car trip. This style is very remeniscent to the Robert B Parker Spencer series, interspersing humor and wisecracking with the more serious content. Not overly graphic... but a good plot to keep one wanting to hear more.
The narration was very good and it made the listening quite smooth and easy to follow the characters.

yes, re-do the book without Orlagh Cassidy. It was a bit odd to have Ron McCary take over book 4 from Scott Brick, but after a few moments one was able to forget who was narrating and get into the plot. But I am only 1/2 hour into this book and having a lot of difficulty getting past Orlagh's awful rendition of Michelle Maxwell. She really does not seem to have any idea of the character. I wish i had read the reviews before purchasing, or I would have gotten a hard copy of the book instead.

Still listening.. if I can get through it. Plot seems to be good, but the narration is my issue.

THe plot moved along well... and yes, there were times when we "sat in the garage to hear more". There was definitely one time that totally surprised us while listening... ( no spoiler here)...

( spoiler) While I liked the whole plot, I thought the scened where Scudder is meeting with the woman who is also an alcohoic, and his dealings with his issue were very well done.

We listened on a car trip, and never got bored with it. Good plot, love the way William Roberts narrates.

I like the way, once the ending is revealed, one does not feel cheated. The clues were there for us to pick up as well.

Lawrence Block gets you involved in the story line right from the beginning... enough twists to keep it interesting without feeling that the results are not possible or, the reverse, too easy to figure out.

He does a very good job of relating the story... he is not the best at changing the voices but good enough, but keeps the story going well... one is able to forget he is reading it and get immersed.

It keeps you interested, although not on the edge of the seat, but surely, towards the end you want to complete the tale.

We enjoy listening to audiobooks during a 2.5 hour ride we take frequently, and first chose this series due to the length of the book, but found it very enjoyable and as mentioned, the storyline gets one involved right from the start, and keeps one interested throughout.
The protagonist is an interesting character, and we are looking forward to hearing more of his stories.
