A German Shepherd police dog witnesses a murder and if his owner - an Iraq war vet and former cop-turned-thief - is convicted of the crime, the dog could be put down. Few rival Andy Carpenter's affection for dogs, and he decides to represent the poor canine. As Andy struggles to convince a judge that this dog should be set free, he discovers that the dog and his owner have become involved unwittingly in a case of much greater proportions than the one they've been charged with.

Rosenfelt and Gardner are a great combination. Loved this Andy Carpenter book as much as the previous. This is my favorite series on Audible. All I can says is if you haven't read the series give it a try and if you have you're gonna love this one too.

Each winter the crew at the Shackleton South Pole Research Facility faces nine months of isolation, round-the-clock darkness, and one of the most extreme climates on the planet. For thirty-something mechanical engineer Cass Jennings, Antarctica offers an opportunity to finally escape the guilt of her troubled past and to rebuild her life. But the death of a colleague triggers a series of mysterious incidents that push Cass and the rest of the forty-four-person crew to the limits of their sanity and endurance.

A resident of one of LA's toughest neighborhoods uses his blistering intellect to solve the crimes the LAPD ignores. East Long Beach. The LAPD is barely keeping up with the neighborhood's high crime rate. Murders go unsolved, lost children unrecovered. But someone from the neighborhood has taken it upon himself to help solve the cases the police can't or won't touch. They call him IQ. He's a loner and a high school dropout, his unassuming nature disguising a relentless determination and a fierce intelligence.

This story is based in a music rappers world, a culture which is unfamiliar to me. At first I was slightly off put by the language, how they interact and a less than "pretty" lifestyle. I am so glad I kept listening because I grew to really like the two main characters and wish there could be more from them.

I listen to a lot of murder/mystery so when I get a Joshilyn Jackson book it is like a special treat. This is a great story about less than perfect people doing their best to deal with what life throws at them.

They have real jobs; Boone works as a P.I. just enough to keep himself in fish tacos and in the water. But Boone is also obsessed with the unsolved case of a young girl named Rain who was abducted while he was with the San Diego police.

The story line kept me going and interested. Throughout the first third of the story we have to continue to hear all the great things Boone has done....this got old and briefly considered giving up on the book. It wasn't the greatest story ever told but was interesting and the mystery was in a different setting so overall I am glad I listened.
