Sergey and Marina Dyachenko mix dramatic scenes with romance, action and wit, in a style both direct and lyrical. Written with a sure artistic hand, The Scar is the story of a man driven by his own feverish demons to find redemption and the woman who just might save him. Egert is a brash, confident member of the elite guards and an egotistical philanderer. But after he kills an innocent student in a duel, a mysterious man known as “The Wanderer” challenges Egert and slashes his face with his sword, leaving Egert with a scar that comes to symbolize his cowardice.

What would have made The Scar better?

The story needed a better main character. I just made it so far into the story and lost all interest because of my dislike for the main character.

What was most disappointing about the authors’s story?

I understand you need to introduce the characters and set the events of the story but it took for ever even listen at 2x speed for anything to happen. Even then I just didn't care for the main character. Lost interest and wonder if I could get my credit back.

What didn’t you like about Jonathan Davis’s performance?

The reader was fine my problem was with the story.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    No

Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered— and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin….Since then, she's learned to read, she's learned to fight and she's become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she's made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

What would have made Cast in Shadow better?

Th story to me was at times painfully slow to develop. The author spent to much time with the main character reflecting o her past or this or that. This detail could have been summed up in a paragraph or so. Not drone on for what seemed like forever beore something interesting happened.

What was most disappointing about Michelle Sagara’s story?

There would be something of interest but then the main character would reflect on this or that from her past or present etc. It would have been better if it was faster paced.

What aspect of Khristine Hvam’s performance would you have changed?

I thought the reading was fine.

Bought it not really knowing much about it. Made it about 3/4th of the way threw and just lost interest. Storry was not gripping and I lost interest in the characters.
