The story was ok and the zombie back story was interesting but I felt like the ending feel apart a little....almost rushed.
The narrator has a good enough voice but he makes no effort when it comes to changing voice for each character. Hard to tell when a man or woman is speaking.
At the edge of my seat for the entire book. I didn't think Jonathan could do so many horrible things to so many characters all in a single book. Emotional roller coaster. I can only imagine him thinking "what can I do next and to who?".
Can't wait for the next book to see how the team (and world) is recovering.
Interesting enough story but it dragged on hour after hour with boring amounts of detail. I feel like I could fly a fighter jet after spending so much time listing to each detail.
The book is almost like a bad version of Independence day. Way too much time spent covering travel details from point A to point. B. Not enough time on the alien characters or backstory. The female lead character didn't even need to be in 90% of her story.
Listen on 1.25 times speed.
Next to Ray Porter, Robert Pekoff is now in my top 5 narrators. He just nailed the story and brought a lot of drama, especially when reading the the two brothers. The brothers turned out to be some of the best evil characters I have read.
It was an interesting story, but the motivation for creating silos and everything else behind what happens to the people and silos has no basis in logic. I just don't believe such a small number of key players could have made all of this happen.
The 500 lifespan of a silo and everything inside is a total joke.
That being said, I am still going to read the next book in the serious to see what happens.
I just don't understand why this book has some many great reviews. I found nothing engaging about the society or the characters. Boring.
I was really hoping to read a MHI story, but this was really a Franks story. In fact MHI has only a very small part in the entire book, which was a disappointment. Overall this really was a "back story" book.
The book did grow on me and I was pretty happy with it overall.
The 1st half of the book is really some of the best and most unique science fiction I have read in a really long time. The 2nd half of the book gets a little confusing and I found myself a little lost. 5 starts for the 1st half and 3.5 stars for the second half. Outstanding performance.
Wow. This is not only the best book in the series but it is one of the best books I have read in a year.
It was non stop suspense and action. I couldn't stop listening. I don't want to say more, otherwise I will spill key plot points.
The reading by Ray Porter was amazing as always. This reading should be award winning.
Looking forward to the next book.
This Zombie story really is different from all the others I have read. The book has a feeling of optimism throughout as you see the country rebuilding.
Yes the book has an bad guy throughout but it felt really different. It wasn't some crazy person trying to take over the world for no reason with a bunch of dumb followers. This bad guy had a goal and I could sympathize with him.
I really enjoyed all of the characters. The performance was outstanding. Could not have been a better voice for the characters.
Wish the book was longer. I would love to read a follow-up book about the same "world".
A story about very screwed up people doing a lot of really screwed up things.
From cutting to statutory rape to drinking blood. A story about horrible people doing dumb and bad things. I never really found any point to the story.
Well read, that is about it.
