  • Nella Last's War: The Second World War Diaries of 'Housewife 49'

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Nella Last
    • Narrated By Carole Boyd

In September 1939 housewife and mother Nella Last began a regular diary that lasted for 30 years. The account that she left of life during the Second World War is moving, fascinating, and unique. While Nella's younger son joined the army, she and the rest of the family tried to adapt to the transformed rhythms of life in Barrow-in-Furness, which suffered terribly from enemy bombing raids. Writing each day for the "Mass-Observation" project, Nella's diary entries tell a powerful story about the war years.

Patricia says: "The world needs more Nella Lasts!"
    "Great Listen"

If you ever wanted to feel what living through the second war felt like, this book is for you. Nella Last lets you feel and understand her world.

The body in the trunk was just the beginning.
Turns out the stiff was a foot soldier for local tough guy Reggie Galen, now enjoying a comfortable “retirement” with his beautiful wife, Rebecca, in the nicest part of Paradise. Living next door are Knocko Moynihan and his wife, Robbie, who also happens to be Rebecca’s twin. But what initially appears to be a low-level mob hit takes on new meaning when a high-ranking crime figure is found dead on Paradise Beach.
Stressed by the case, his failed relationship with his ex-wife, and his ongoing battle with the bottle, Jesse needs something to keep him from spinning out of control. When private investigator Sunny Randall comes into town on a case, she asks for Jesse’s help. As their professional and personal relationships become intertwined, both Jesse and Sunny realize that they have much in common with both their victims and their suspects—and with each other.

    From the Compact Disc edition.

  • Macbeth: Shakespeare Appreciated: (Unabridged, Dramatised, Commentary Options)

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By William Shakespeare, Simon Potter, Phil Viner
    • Narrated By Joan Walker, Nick Murchie, Coralyn Sheldon

Experience Macbeth as a powerful full-cast drama with entertaining and enlightening commentary that explains what's what and who's who as the plot unfolds. To help you get the most out of Shakespeare, the narrator offers historical insights and background information, so you can enjoy the jokes, appreciate the references, and get a real sense of Shakespeare's world.

Amelia says: "I Love the Commentary"

Eureka, after 25 years i decided to re-read Macbeth, my confused understanding of the play was transformed into an understanding i will never forget. The narration was exquisit i have finally conquored MacBeth.

  • One Second After

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By William R. Forstchen
    • Narrated By Joe Barrett
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

    Sara says: "A terrifying story"
    "One Second After"

In a time of extreme uncertainty, coupled with our need for all things digital, the scenarion painted is spine chillingly posible. As the human condition grows more agressive fueled by greed, all men are pushing the world to armageddon.

This work should be read by all, oneday this knowledge may give you true power,

My world changed, I see another future.

William, your knowledge of this subject is phernominal, keep on writing, we will read.

    Good luck for the future

if you are a john grisham fan, like me, then this book is for you. Fast paced and exciting, the book outlines the rise, fall, torment and final peace of a small time lawyer misused by large corporations to fulfil their own goals.
