Once an aristocrat in the heady days of pre-revolutionary France, now Lestat is a rockstar in the demonic, shimmering 1980s. He rushes through the centuries in search of others like him, seeking answers to the mystery of his terrifying exsitence. His story, the second volume in Anne Rice's best-selling Vampire Chronicles, is mesmerizing, passionate, and thrilling.

    Story

This is the one vampire that EVERYONE on this planet knows the name of: LESTAT. He is Anne Rice's finest hour, her most famous creation and the beginning of her other vampire books even tho he came from Interview with the Vampire originally. This book shocked me at first, even tho I can recite the words nearly verbatim from the written word; I have read them so often. But I was astonished and DELIGHTED to hear the narrator speak in the French accent that was WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE! Reading the story never gave me the actual mental image of the French accent even tho we are told that Lestat is French and from the late 1700's, it just never came across in the written words! But the Audible version shocked and DELIGHTED me to be so AUTHENTIC with the French accent and it surely made the OLD STORY TO ME almost brand new! This narrator does such an excellent job of reading the story I simply cannot tell you how wonderful it is! You must experience it for yourself! You MUST! Lestat is so famous, the movie with Stuart Townsend was excellent, as was Akasha (actress Aaliyah) and Marius and the others was very very good; but the Audible version of the story is so much better. You will hear and understand so much more and the authentic French accent is so very original, it was not used in the movie! but it really "makes" the story so perfectly original. I highly recommend this Audible book to any Anne Rice fan, any Vampire fan and any fan of good books! There is really nothing better than classic vampire stories!

What could be scarier than the first day of school? How about a crash course in the paranormal from Charlaine Harris and Toni L. P. Kelner, editors of Home Improvement: Undead Edition? Your worst school nightmares - taking that math test you never studied for, finding yourself naked in school assembly, not knowing which door to enter - will pale in comparison to these 13 original stories that take academic anxiety to whole new realms.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

    Story

This story is so good, it's Stephen King at his finest with over 150,000 more pages added to the original story. It's just as good as the movie, maybe better. The length makes it an excellent buy, but the story is one of those you never forget. I think we all missed some of the little things in reading the original book or watching the made for tv version. This audible book makes sure you catch it all, and it's just more good stuff added to one of the scariest stories of all time. This could really happen! We have these bugs made by the government and they ARE out there! Good and Evil are pitted in the age old battle for mankind.....it's touch and go at all times. "He" could win the next round if we aren't careful.

Nothing sucks the romance out of world travel like a boyfriend who may or may not have broken up with you in a hotel room in Brussels. Jane Jameson's sexy sire Gabriel has always been unpredictable, but the seductive, anonymous notes that await him at each stop of their international vacation, coupled with his evasive behavior over the past few months, finally push Jane onto the next flight home to Half Moon Hollow -- alone, upset, and unsure whether Gabriel just ended their relationship without actually telling her.

Just like the rest of us. We all have boyfriends who make us crazy, wedding and travel issues, but when a vampire does it's hilarious and real all at the same time. I liked Jane from the very beginning and the narrator sounds just like I picture her. I highly recommend all four of these books in the series, I bought them and I love them. You will too!

Just as Jane Jameson’s unlife seems to be stabilizing, fate sinks its fangs firmly into her butt. Despite her near-phobia of wedding planning, her no-frills nighttime nuptials to her sexy boyfriend, Gabriel, are coming along smoothly. That is, until she turns a fatally wounded teenage acquaintance, and the Council pronounces her responsible for the newborn vamp until he can control his thirst.

This is definitely a new twist on the vampire genre! I love vampire stories but this girl is just like you or me, she's normal! When she is forced to "turn" a teenager to save him she becomes responsible for him. That's like having a kid you didn't plan for! Jane is funny, normal and a really good read. The narrator is great, she sounds exactly like you picture Jane. Highly recommend this whole series.

Once a devoted children's librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she's now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she's an eternal bridesmaid -- which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read.

    Story

I really liked this book. I like vampire stories but this one is like a regular girl who just "happens" to be a vampire. She doesn't start out like that and the way it happens is funny too. She has a great sense of humor, she's just like one of your friends in anybody's life. Except her life is much more interesting than usual! I recommend this book and it's three others in the series to all who like a light read that captures your attention and keeps it. Great story, great narrator, worth the entire series!

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.

I bought this book as a "take a chance" because I love the supernatural stories, vampires especially. But this one is definitely different! She's funny, like an improv comedienne on the stage! Almost every word out of her mouth is funny sarcasm or a one liner worthy of a premium TV channel! I liked this book enough to buy the second in the series and I am pretty sure I will finish the four books done so far. They are light hearted enough to keep me entertained and I just don't have to keep track of a lot of different story lines, just hers and she's funny as heck. On a bad day> I could find that I have a lot in common with her but I am actually a lot luckier than she is. Good book, highly recommend the story for those who like to laugh.

Here are the confessions of a vampire. Hypnotic, shocking, and chillingly erotic, this is a novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing force - a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write. From the Paperback edition.

    Story

Who doesn't remember the first Vampire to be beloved for his tortured soul? His child vampire Claudia, the first ever child vampire in historical novels? Louis and his search for his lost soul gave us such a different look at the genre and this story was the reawakening of the love for "blood sucking vamps" that we had almost lost by the time Anne Rice wrote this. We were used to Christopher Lee and his brand of aloof and silent monster movies so when we fell in LOVE with Louis it was a whole new beginning for the genre of Vampires. Anne Rice became our Goddess of the Vampire stories, she introduced us to Louis and Claudia and Lestat and then went beyond to capture our hearts with more and more....this one is only the beginning. Expect to fall in love with the voice and the story all over again. Excellent narration too!

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, Margaret Mitchell's great novel of the South is one of the most popular books ever written. Within six months of its publication in 1936, Gone With the Wind had sold a million copies. To date, it has been translated into 25 languages, and more than 28 million copies have been sold. Here are the characters that have become symbols of passion and desire....

Margaret Mitchell's story came to the big screen and is still very popular, the audible version of the classic is just as good if not better. I like being inside of Scarlett's head, her POV is what makes the story great but the historical accuracy is there for Civil War aficionados too. She did a great deal of research for the writing of this story and it shows. It's a long book, but so was the movie and so was the Civil War and it's aftermath on the southern states. Loved the details, the realistic way you feel like you ARE THERE, in the south hearing the war and feeling the war and then living the war itself and it's years that came after. The people seem to live and breathe right along with Scarlett and Rhett...Mammy is unforgettable as the beloved housekeeper and so many others....I think this book should be required "reading" or "listening" for all who want to understand where our United States was right after the Revolutionary War and how it came to be today. This was the beginning of the end of the old days and the start of the industrialized era for the USA. A fictional story that has it's roots in history.

Let’s face it - the holidays can bring out the beast in anyone. They are particularly hard if you’re a lycanthrope. Charlaine Harris and Toni L. P. Kelner have harvested the scariest, funniest, saddest werewolf tales, by an outstanding pack of authors, best heard by the light of a full moon and with a silver bullet close at hand.

Bought this for the Charlaine Harris story but ended up loving the whole book. I like the format of "just enough time for one story" and they are all very good. CH only lends her name to the best and this is one of them. Do you love werewolves and supernaturals of all kinds? Then this is the book for you. Each narrator brings their own expertise to the different stories and they are all pretty darn good!
