One of the best book of this kind. Read brilliantly by the author, Daniel Pink, I enjoyed every passage, exercises and activities in this wonderful little audiobook. It gives a broad perspective about productive mind in 21st century. The book has motivated me to practice empathy, start involving myself in right brain activities like art, design. Must listen by everyone.. especially auditors, accountants, software programmers...
David Rock has written an excellent book that consists of solid neuroscience examples and cute analogies that is neatly tied to real world examples about how brain responds to different office situations. I have a reasonable neuroscience background and thoroughly enjoyed his description about various brain areas and how they function. With these insights it becomes much more easy to apply various strategies to excel in office environment (and school or other competitive environment). The speaker was quite pleasant to listen after initial adjustment period. A MUST listen title.
Enjoyed every minute of the talk by Prof. Drout. He has a perfect mix of logos, ethos and pathos (listen to this book to know more about these terms) in each of his lecture. Overall, a great introduction to this subject with many interesting examples. A must listen book !!
I would rate Sync as one of the best mathematics audiobook that can be enjoyed and understood (even in audio format). Steven Strogatz is a pioneering mathematics professor working on chaos theory and non-linear dynamics. He has successfully integrated his understanding of the principles of synchrony and emergence of synchrony in various natural phenomena and came out with a intuitive, entertaining book mixed with historical anecdotes. Must buy book for any science loving audible listeners.
Dr. Boylte Taylor's unique audiobook gives a first hand description of her thought process before, during and after her stroke. I got very much moved by her 20 minutes TED talk and I thought I should read her book. When I found out about the audiobook (also read by her), I thought I must purchase it and listen.
It gives an extremely detailed/vivid account about stroke and stroke victims life. At times, the details were too much for me. But, I think these might be useful insights to people who need to know more about the stoke and its recovery process.
Some of the messages that remain in my mind after listening to this talk are (1) how remarkable is human brain that is able to recover from such traumatic injury (2) the dedication and efforts of Dr. Taylor's mother to help her daughter (3) Last but not least, the singing doctor Dr. Taylor. She shows how one can get back in life after such traumatic injury due to shear will power, love of friends/family, and inner confidence.
Life will become more meaningful after you listen to this audio-book.
Dr. Norman Doidge weaves in this book, many interesting and important scientific breakthroughs about understanding brain and treating some of the most common brain disorders (stroke, compulsive disorder etc). Some of the information in the chapter on Lover brain was quite astounding, but most of the chapters in this book shows very important research breakthrough about brain. I strongly recommend this audiobook because the narrator has done an excellent job in convening the essence of the book. Must listen...
