Ten years ago, Rori Simon left town shy, unattractive and with zero self-esteem. Now she's back, older, stronger and finally loving herself ;and it shows. Hot men are soon knocking at her door, including Jude Callahan, the bad boy who starred in her teenage daydreams...and her adult fantasies.

Right up to the last hour of this book I would have given it a 5 star rating...then the plot made be bawl hysterically. I don't read fun steamy books to bawl, but I got so invested in the characters, due to the excellent writing and depth of them, that their sorrow became my sorrow....and that actually made me mad.

I would give the steamy scenes a B+, there was bondage, and a sub/dom thing going on, but in a tasteful and non porn kind of way, and over all the plot was very good, and believable.

So, in other words, it wasn't a MUST read of mine, but totally worth the $4.95 I got it on sale for.

You must overcome all your fears, confront the demons that chase you, and cleanse the poison that clings to your soul or you risk the chance of losing everything. Mine started the minute Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet. She made me feel. Made me whole when all I thought I could ever be was incomplete. Became the lifeline I never knew I needed. Hell yes, she's worth the fight - but how do you fight for someone you know you don't deserve?

This is book 3, the final book in the Driven trilogy. I didn't really like these characters by the end of the series. I mean sure there were some redeeming qualities but it all seemed to wrap up too nicely and I felt the book had about 3 different points it could have ended and that was before all the epilogues...and yes there were multiple epilogues.

If you liked the first two you will want to know what happened with these two characters so you will buy the book like I did, but I can't say I will ever be revisiting them, just too much angst for me.

Ryan Christensen just wanted to be an actor. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine a life where fans would chase him, paparazzi would stalk him, and Hollywood studios would want to own him. While filming in Seaport, Rhode Island, Ryan ducks into a neighborhood bar for a quick escape from legions of screaming fans... and finds much more than he expected. Nursing a recent heartbreak, Taryn Mitchell believes men are best kept at a safe distance. There are a few things I want to clarify before beginning my review, since the choice of to be or not to buy usually comes down to these categories for 90% of the population.

    1. This book is 22.5 hours long...so if you aren't into LONG books move on!
    2. The sexual tension and chemistry were there...but if you are looking for an erotic detailed read move on!
    3. It is not a YA book (I was relieved when I finally figured that one out!)
    4. The narrator is very good, even fake yawning a word when the script said to
    5. Even though this was a story about a mega movie star and a simple girl, I have to say the contrived drama was kept fairly minimal.

    Okay, onto the review.

Small town bar owner Taryn gets the shock of her life one day when she opens up her pub door and sees a slew of girls chasing a guy...she instantly gets him inside and realizes it's Ryan Christianson the mega movie star filming locally. She feels the need to protect him and helps him calm down and so the story of the Taryn Ryan relationship begins.

Some parts dragged but for the most part I liked the book. I liked that it wasn't insta-love and we are soul mates and poof it's us against the world. This girl had doubts, this boy has issues, they had to work to get together, but no one was abused as a child or was horribly broken or a virgin, thank goodness. I did get a bit bored with how much the girl doubted everything, but new relationships are hard and I imagine dealing with the mega movie star who can get any girl he wants scenario could make one doubt herself.

There were real life scenarios and nothing too over the top dramatic until the end that is...but you kind of figured something like that was bound to happen. And I am thrilled to report that although this is book 1 of 3 the third book isn't about Taryn and Ryan and book one did not have a cliff hanger ending. I have already downloaded book 2.

I would say it's well worth the read/listen!

Colton stole my heart. He wasn't supposed to, and I sure as hell didn't want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist. Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don't think I'll ever be the same. She's seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she's still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint and I am most definitely the sinner.

I think I will take a break from these two for now. Their story is just too intense. While I felt book 1 could have happened to people I know, I felt book two was too contrived and full of whine. If the author could have cut out about an hour of the drama of misunderstandings it would have been a lot better, but no, it was all in there. The internal dialogue of he's the man I love, and the man I hate, and we are destroying each other and this isn't healthy for either of us....and no he can't explain....no I won't listen....I love him too much to hear his explanations.....HUH! That one confused me enough and had me rolling my eyes to click stop. (you shouldn't role your eyes during your commute!)

I think I will get back to these two soon, I do want to hear the end of their story, but I have a few other books right now that I think will hold my interest more. I did like the fact that the characters knew they were being idiots....like the part where she said If it walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, it's probably a duck!, and he said Riley, just wait, let me explain, and she screams over him...QUACK!!!!!!!!!, and he says oh yeah that was mature! I have to admit, THAT was pretty funny. But there were just too many misunderstandings, and characters not listening and overlooking obvious things, and just overall this book made me want to scream at my phone. Some people think that is a great reaction to a book, me....um...no.

So, if you like screaming at your phone for main characters to get on the same page then you should adore this book. For me, I'm taking a break.

The female narrator was good, showed real emotions, not too fond of guys voices, but 'eh, I got over the hot hunky main character sounding like a snarky Thurston Howell the Third. The male narrator, while his hot hunky main character was very much hubba hubba...his female voices were horrible.

Strong female lead...check! Devilish bad boy who doesn't think he knows how to love, or be loved...check! Sexual chemistry off the charts.....check! Secondary characters that are so full of life I want this series to continue for years....check...check...check!

Ah....it's not often I find a book that I can't put down. Typically if there is a bunch of contrived drama I just put the whole book down. I really don't like drama for the sake of a story or to continue a plot, it just aggravates me.

This book had a lot of drama, but I could see it all happening to someone I know, which makes it real and gets me invested, not made for fiction dribble that makes me want to throw my iphone and scream "GET REAL!"...that's what this book felt like for me, simply put, it felt real.

Could I see our leading lady Riley having a fairly normal life and one day her world changes and she has lost her fiance, her future, and nearly her life....but she is moving on and trying to live again through helping orphaned kids find homes, a place to be feel safe, so that their lives aren't as empty as hers...yeah, I could see someone wanting to bring people's lives back to them when inside she is emotionally shut down about her own feelings and emotions and not really living.

Could I see a famous race car driver having less than an ideal childhood so as an adult he doesn't know how to give or accept love, he only knows how to use people and get used by them....yeah....I can see that happening too. There are things we learn as children, or don't learn, that stay with us for life.

This is book 1 of the series...and yes there is a cliffhanger, but the whole book is just great at the buildup, the sexual tension, the chemistry, the plausibility of it all....whew....I'm sure I'll be writing about book 2 shortly.

But what Alayna didn't figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. I had high hopes for this trilogy, I even waited for all three books to come out before I purchased book one....and the people I follow had such great things to say about this book but for me this book wasn't good. To be clear, I did finish the whole thing, and even downloaded book 2 to see if maybe it got better, it didn't. I'll be returning that one!

These are two broken people...but not like FSOG or bared to you...the woman has the obsession/compulsion issue of fantasizing relationships that aren't really happening, reading too much into what a guy says and has stalked men in the past resulting in a restraining order...now to the characters credit she got help, but at least 4 hours of this book is her talking to herself saying things like "I will not obsess over him....I will not do negative things....I will not over dramatize this....I will not go down the path of self destruction....I will remain calm and talk this out....I will not over react"...and so on and so on....hours upon hours of this insecure stuff, oh and of course she has these conversations WHILE she is doing the weird psycho stuff! Did he really go on a business trip or is he just avoiding me, oh I'll go ride the elevator every day just to see if he is there. OY! I'm slamming my head on my car dash wanting her to get on with the plot!

Then we have the man.....he's a billionaire....he's gorgeous....he's well endowed....but he is broken too. At least that is what we are told, but we don't see much of it in this book. But the gist is he is broken because he likes to mess with girls heads, get them to fall for them, and then he leaves....it's a game to him. He also got "help" with this problem.

Can you see the impeding disaster yet? Yup, contrived drama from her over reaction, contrived drama from everyone not believing he isn't just messing with her head, contrived drama from the billionaire dating the bartender standpoint and of course there is just random contrived drama...ex's, wanna be ex's, his mother is a special special person who has told him his whole life he CAN'T love anyone, he's incapable of it. There was just NOTHING uplifting about this story, nothing that made you want to know these people, and everything saying RUN, just don't read anymore, don't drag yourself down!

I really wanted to like this story, but I just can't. At least it isn't a cliffhanger book...but book 2 has a contrived drama twist in the first two hours that had me slamming my hand on the stop button....ENOUGH! I-have-had-ENOUGH!

Oh and the narrator....the male voice has zero sex appeal...not deep or sultry, more like young joke-ster...and the guy is suppose to be a serious business tycoon. Just didn't fit. Her inflections were good, but her male voices not so much.

So, if you adore contrived drama with twists and turns and gasps of surprise...i.e. random bombs being dropped just to watch people scatter in the story...then go for it, should be a great trilogy for you. For me, I am off to return book 2.

    Narrator was great though.

This is one of those books that it's hard to describe. On the one hand it kept me interested all the way until the end, but on the other hand it took a very long time to get there. On the one hand there were very descriptive sex scenes, but on the other hand it still wasn't hot. In the beginning I really liked the heroin, but by the end she was kind of cliché. In the beginning I wondered if the male lead would ever get his act together, but by the end I was thinking how did he get so straight so fast.

There was contrived drama, but in the life of a multi mega bucks superstar how could there not be when he dates a common person. There was backstabbing, secrets, and a slew of personal problems. So why did I keep listening… Yeah I've been wondering that too all I can say is that over the hours and hours and hours I actually got invested in the characters and wanted to see how it all turned out.

The narrator for the main characters was pretty good, good inflection, good emotion but her male voices for anybody but the main character was a little bit like nails on a chalkboard.

I think I got this book for five dollars during a sale in which case I think it was five dollars well spent but I would not spend a credit on this book nor would I buy it.

Being popular in the college music scene doesn’t solve all your problems; at least that’s what the hot musicians of indie band Luminescent Juliet discover. In this compelling novel, trouble begins when 18-year-old Riley, trying to regain her rhythm after throwing away her percussion scholarship to a top school, wins an audition to become the band’s new drummer. This sets her on a collision course with Romeo, the band’s sexy dark-haired guitarist, whose ambitions do not include performing with a girl.

    Story

This story was cute. However, if you are looking for steam and descriptive details as far as the bedroom goes… You will be left wanting.

It actually was a pretty good story, not one I have heard before. Our leading lady Riley is 18, but going to be 19 in two months, and she gave up a prestigious percussion scholarship to stay at home because her parents 21 year marriage has ended and she's worried about her mom and 8 year old sister. Playing the drums is all she knows and all she wants to do. So when the opportunity comes up to try out for a local rock band she tries out and of course being good enough to get a prestigious scholarship she gets the gig. Two of the band members hit on her while the one that she's actually become fascinated with treats her like he doesn't want her to be there.

This story has a lot of up and downs, particularly relating to the mother pretty much falling apart and the 18-year-old daughter having to try to put her back together and be mom sister student drummer and everything else life throws at an 18-year-old. There are a few scenes of sexual tension between the main characters but nothing over PG-13. All in all it was a good story, it kept you wanting to know more and therefor turning the pages. I wouldn't call it light and fluffy, but by the end of the book it's more of a feel-good book then whew, glad they got through that book. If you are looking for something that's not too intense but will actually keep your attention go ahead and get this book but if you're looking for adult characters or adult situations this isn't really the book for you.

I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of 10 thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.", and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing...except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

Rarely am I speechless when giving a review...but there is SOOO much to say and all of it sounds kind of hokey....kind of like when you are enthralled in a soap opera and you try to explain it to a friend and it just comes out sounding so dumb, but in the mean time you are the one running to your DVR after work praying something else got resolved today!

That sums up Alpha...it wasn't contrived drama...it wasn't over the top ridiculous drama that you could NEVER see happening....it wasn't really an inst-love drama....and it wasn't a virgin meets billionaire love story. What it was was HOT...if there were words larger than capital size I would use them. This story is explicit, sensual, rough, raw, mind blowing and all without being raunchy. I have never listened to this author before but I think all my credits are about to be used!

Imagine you are a broke 26 year old, you are trying desperately to make ends meet, but they don't. You are working full time, you had to put your mother in a home due to her mental issues, and your little brother is in college and he NEEDS your help...then there are the aging grandparents in Florida barely getting by that you feel compelled to help, and there is you. You don't think about you much in this hell-hole you call life because you have to take care of others. That is the life of our leading lady Kyrie...her whole world changed when at 19 her father was murdered and she went from college sorority chick to sole provider and caregiver of her family. She has made her way through life the best way she can and life has kicked her at every chance. Jobs are scarce, and she just lost hers, but she is tough...she has to be. In one day she lost her job, got an eviction notice, her electricity was shut off and she was hungry....and then a check arrived for 10 thousand dollars. She had no choice but to cash it, and then another one came, and then another...and after 12 months of checks and 12 months of being able to finally make ends meet a large man, hat in hand is sent to "collect her" for his employer....the check writer. See these checks come with a string...a string she was terrified to lead to their source, and their source has a story of his own....see he's been watching Kyrie for years...he is obsessed with her...wants her...and now he owns her and she knows it.

*shudder* All I can say without giving the rest of it away is dang that was G-O-O-D, and the best part....it was ONE book, not three....not a cliffhanger....we get the end of the story. Now personally I would be okay with a book 2, but as for book 1 it left me panting for more and the need to re-listen right away. The narrator is up there with Jill Redcliff, her telling of the story was full of passion, full of emotion, and her male voice was....*shudder*...oh my! Gideon Cross is still number 1 but the race was close and I will look for books done by both her and this author again. Wow, just wow. Nice find!!!

The first book enthralled me...I couldn't work or sleep...I was obsessed! The second book, 'eh, it wasn't like that. This book seemed to have a lot more made up drama, confusing names, too many characters and overall it just felt fake. How the first book didn't feel fake with the mythical Cane and Abel fighting over a marked woman I can't say...but it didn't.

In this book Eve goes to Mark Class where she will learn how to be a proper Mark. The class is being run by Gidarra, an arch angel over Abel, and you expect great things in this book...the clash of titans almost and what you get is one of the main characters goes missing, another one has a personality swap and the third does an about face from their former actions...then you have a bunch of whiny secondary characters that did nothing for me. So, overall it was necessary to read because of book 1, but made me put the breaks on reading book 3 until it's on sale or I'm bored or something.

Jill Redfield was AWESOME as usual! if she wasn't narrating I might have just given up on the book!
