I feel I have to give this book 4 stars and not 5 because Thoughtless is the only 5 in this series, but any other series this book would have been a 5...you just started too good SC! I feel like I know Kiera and Kellan...much like I knew Anna and Christian, but unlike 50, this was a story I could see happening....small town girl follows a guy cross country and then falls for the dreamy rock God...I think this kind of story has actually happened, which makes it charming.
I don't condone cheating, but I understand the concept of finding your other half and no matter how moral you want to be about it what can you really do when that happens?
The series was amazing, this book cleaned up the loose ending on everyone who was practically ever mentioned in the series...and it wrapped it up nicely.
If you read the other 2...even if you didn't like number 2 that well, this is a must read.
I swear I have a life, a job, my obligatory 2.2. kids but I could NOT put these two books down! They both just felt so real! There are no navy seals, no sexy firefighters, and no shifters no paranormal at all...they just both had the feel that this COULD happen in real life, and they just swept me away because of it!
In book 1 we saw Sophie Black being left with a choice...her estranged husband who has been carrying on a multiple year affair with another woman....or her lover Lucien Knight who has walls over walls protecting his heart from any emotion.
In book 2 we see Sophie working through her choices....like a NORMAL person! Does she want to fix things with Dan? Does she even want anything with the emotionally closed off self professed hater of the word "love"...or should she begin her own life without either of these two men?
This book was just as good as the first, if not better. We get the conclusion to Sophie's story...and we find out a few more things about Dan and Lucien...and of course Sophie too. The hot rating is still HOT...and the mind eroticism may have slowed down some, but with emotions running rampant it would be misplaced to have too much of that going on.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the author for not inciting drama for the sake of continuing the story arc...it flowed perfectly without misunderstandings between the characters and contrived drama, this hit all the right buttons and then some!
I can’t recommend this series enough!!!! I'm off to download the third book, which I hear is Kara's story.
I can't believe this isn't sweeping around Audible as the best hottest new thing! There are three books in this series so far, the first 2 seem to be about the same people, Sophie and Lucien, and Audible has all 3! If you go to goodreads they have over 14 THOUSAND reviews and this book still has over 4 stars
Let me just say this book was AMAZINGLY good! We sometimes forget that erotica isn't suppose to be just about the actual acts...it's a state of mind, it is a seduction of the brain as much as the body and boy does this book deliver on every front!
Sophie Black is a bored wife...she has been married to her high school boyfriend for about 10 years and has barely anything to show for it. No kids, no pets, she hates her job and recently it's become increasingly more difficult not to notice that her husband is barely speaking to her, and not touching her at all. She decides she needs a change, so when she sees a job posting to be a personal assistant to the owner of Knight Industries, an adult toy and fantasy company, she decides to try for it. From the moment she met Lucien Knight she was swooning...but she is a married a woman so the swooning will have to be put on hold. Lucien is fascinated by the shy Mrs. Black who seems almost virginal...why would an innocent flower want to be around HIS industry day in and day out? She can't even say the word clitoris without blushing scarlet to her roots!
Things get SOOOO good from there and you just don't want to put the ear buds down. I am off to download book 2 because there was a bit of a cliff hanger and I am dying to know what the heck is about to happen!!!
*warning* This is a British writer, and narrator, and there is British slang used. I personally thought I would be turning this book off within 5 minutes because I thought I could never get over the accent and the narrator...but I have to say it grew on me big time and I got over it! But if you can't get over accents don't get this book. If you hate the idea of infidelity don't get this book. And if you think sex scenes should happen behind closed doors and barely written about...DON'T get this book! For all others...ENJOY!!!!
I had high hopes for this book....they are gone now. If you are expecting a hard core love story centered around a popular rock band with ups and downs this is not that book. There was a rock band but this story could have taken place in an office. I kept waiting for the tension to start, waiting for the other shoe to drop...all I got was let down by a total fluff book, no substance just fluff.
Boy and girl are high school sweethearts, they grow apart and 4 years later are thrown back together. In this alternate reality she doesn't care that he's a rock star, or the hundreds of groupies he has slept with because he's her true love oh she doesn't even request a condom....and he has been sleeping with anything that moves for years and tells her "oh it was always you, all those women I was thinking of you"...and NO ONE calls BS on any if this crap? Talk about suspending reality for the sake of continuing a story!
No action, no suspense, no building the relationship...some steamy scenes but everyone is in love so it's fine.
Not worth a credit, not even worth a $5 sale, just pass this one by! If you want a real rock series go with sinners on tour, those books actually have a plot and characters that work through problems.
While it may be deemed as blasphemous I loved this book like I loved Sinners on Tour! It wasn't as graphically sexual... but there was plenty of that, was it the tortured rock band member....no...but there were plenty of them! I don't know, it was just awesome and nothing plot wise like sinners...but freaking awesome anyway!
Imagine waking up the morning after your 21st birthday in Vegas, with a ring on your finger and an amazingly hot man next to you holding your hair free of your puke! If that wasn't awkward enough....he remembers the night before and YOU don't and he is incredulous that you don't remember the most special day of his life. What's a girl to do...she runs home to Oregon of course! Slight problem when she lands and the paparazzi wants to know what it is like to be married to the "it" boy of rock and roll David Ferris?!?!?!?! OH CRUD WAS THAT HIS NAME?!?!?!?!?!?
The story was funny....romantic....heart swooning...gut wrenching...I was up, I was down...I hated them as a couple, I adored them as a couple. It could have been a little less choppy but the whole thing was just so dang good I couldn't stop listening....even at work...but shhh that's a secret!!!!
Credit worthy, sale worthy, heck flat out purchase worthy! Can't wait to hear about another band member, I REALLY hope they stay as good. I have tried a few rock band romances and none of them have done anything for me...this gives me hope to get out there and try again.
This book was originally released as a five part serial, but this is all 5 together not just part one, so you WILL get the whole story in this one book.
I am at a loss as to what to say about this book, never read anything like this. On the one hand it wasn't one if those suspend reality and just go with the sex scenes, because it had an actual plot....but it did also have some nice hot scenes. There was contrived drama for the sake of continuing the story, and a few parts where I was like HUH!?!? But it tried to follow its decent plot.
Bailey Sinclair is the groundskeeper granddaughter, she has been doing his job because he has Alzheimer's disease and doesn't want to let the owners know because she needs the money for his care. Conner Edge buys the property, although it appears to have been his families before, and anyway he's drawn to bailey. He suffers from a condition similar to multiple personality disorder and the two Conners both want her. One is a socially acceptable business man, the other is for all intents and purposes a Dom. The story follows them all through a maze of do both men (same man) want her, does she want both of them, can they all figure out how to transverse this tricky relationship where she is sleeping with 2 different men that are the same person?
It wasn't a bad story, but it was kind if confusing and disjointed, probably because it was originally 5 stories. The smex scenes were good, the mind games were good, but definitely hard to keep up with who remembers what and who was blacked out during that time. Narration was excellent, male voices were decent, and overall the story was fine and even gripping, but now that I'm done with it I could have done without this book. So, good for sale, not credit or sale worthy in my opinion.
I usually don't comment on narrators, rarely have I come across one that I bash, but I am totally up for a bashing right now! This book could have been 5 stars all around, singing its praises and so on...if the narrator didn't sound like a computer voice from a 1980's movie. Long pauses in the middle of words, going up and down on every syllable! And the men all sounded like growling scratchy things.
With a different narrator this book could have been really up there, it had all the makings. Good hearted girl who just got out of a looser relationship through a weird set of circumstances finds herself as a babysitter to a wayward rock star. But who she is fascinated with is his older brother, who is also in the band. The story is cute and the tension is built well, but there is no triangle drama, it's just a nice story with great sexual tension and some hot scenes towards the end. There were a couple of instances of unrealism where the author took creative license, but overall really great book...if I had READ it...did I mention the horrible narrator killed it?
I just wrote my review yesterday for book one...and I have obviously purchased, downloaded and read book 2...yeah I'm hooked! These people are intense, but in a good way. What sets this book apart from other trilogies that have been out lately is that no one is SEVERELY broken. Both are a bit broken in their own way, but touching each other is fine, no night terrors requiring medication, and above all I don't feel like screaming "who the heck let you out of therapy!!!" This book is about a healthy relationship between consenting adults that crave dominance and submission....okay it does cross the line into codependency but those types of relationships kind of have to. I admit there was one scene where I was just shocked...they really amped up the BDSM in this book...but like I said consensual adults, and they are getting what they each feel they need, so more power to them.
I don't feel emotionally drained from reading this trilogy, I'm excited to see what happens next, and the narrator really is great. Since book 3 came out almost a year ago I'm kind of hoping audible can get it SOON! I'm very interested in knowing how this all ends...although I did read that the author is working on a book 4 which is from the male point of view.
Now, why did it get 4 stars if I loved it so much....well the male lead gets 5 stars for making me adore him and dislike him all at the same time. The leading lady gets 3 stars for not having a back bone in this book...for STILL thinking that a man like that couldn't want her. And contrived drama, and predictable drama made it not exactly a 5 star book. I was HIGHLY disappointed with the bathroom scene...how many times does a woman need to get cornered by the ex in a bathroom in today's modern book? I saw it coming from a mile away and hoped I was wrong, but I wasn't, it was the most disappointing part of the book for me because it's been done to death.
Anyway, I would wait for book 3 to be released before you dive in because now I am in torture land awaiting the conclusion....AGAIN!!!!
Thank goodness this was awesome! I have been afraid to try this series, too many up and down reviews...it's a rip off of this it's a rip off of that....well I'm here to say it's not a rip off of anything! It's an all new book and an all new story...is there a virgin, is there a billionaire, yes and yes...but the virgin had a good reason to be one...and she's the damaged one...but not super damaged as in some other books. Is there Dom/sub stuff...yes...but in a WHOLE new consensual give and take way.
What can I say....from page one I was totally caught up...I wanted to listen at every moment of the day until it was done, I wanted to know what happened next. Anyone who follows me knows I'm not a fan of contrived drama...drama for the sake of continuing a story line, drama that would never happen if people would just talk to each other. Every book seems to have some to a certain extent, and this one was on the lower end. There was drama but it was of the needed and emotional roller coaster kind. I have to say I hated the main male character...then I adored him....then I thought wow what a total p*ick! Then I adored him again...his mess ups were just SO typical male! I just wanted to scream, you STUPID NAIVE MAN! I think we can all agree that sometimes men confound us with their logic...they aren't being dumb they are just being MALE, and this book was full of stupid male...but in a believable way.
The one small complaint I have in this book is that the female lead wouldn't tell the guy how she felt...I get that she is damaged, but I just wanted to scream at her to get over it, or not even try. I spent most of the book thinking will she give him a chance...does he deserve a chance..will they get a chance?
Bottom line I am off to get book 2, hope book 3 is out soon because I can tell this is going to be one of those all consuming trilogies for me where I am dying to know how it all unravels. I would pay full price for this book, and that's saying something!!!
Thank goodness I only paid $4.95 for this. Okay, onto the review. Three brothers all destined to share one mate. They aren't shifters or anything, apparently this is what their family does, they had three dads and one mom and they hope to carry on the tradition. The book opens up on page one with one brother checking the mail and poof he sees a woman in the snow at his mailbox (did I mention they live in a secluded mountain area?).... So he brings her into the house and on the way in he knows she's the one...and his two brothers are on board with the plan too by page 2.
If I was on twitter the hash tags would be; contrived drama, foursome, destined mate, unrealistic plot with many many holes, B+ love scenes, and unoriginal plot. Yup that covers it! Not recommended, even if you are just looking for a purely steamy book...it just doesn't deliver.
I missed this writing style, I missed the witty banter, and I missed this world of shifter wolves. So, on the one hand it was great to listen to this book. However, I didn't like the story. It had miscommunication after miscommunication and I really don't like that. Story arcs that should have been dramatic just made my eyes roll.
This is the story of Nick and Shaya, Taryns best friend. I was looking forward to this story, why didn't the alpha male claim his mate? The reasoning was okay...sort of understandable but never really hit home for me. Then the contradictions started...he doesn't want her, she wants him, he DOES want her, she doesn't want him. Then trouble comes and while they were within an inch of figuring out everything they out of no where killed the guy...huh? No one even commented "huh, maybe we should have held off doing that." Just weird things like that annoyed me because random plot twists for the sake of continuing the story always bug me.
It was nice to visit this world again, but nothing I would have rushed to buy had I known.
