Nice addition to the Zombie Fallout Series. It fills in a bit of the back story of how the Zombies came to be. Make sure you don’t read this before book 3, or else it won’t make a lot of sense. I rated it 3 stars on this book alone, but if you’ve read the series then I would definitely recommend this book.
A great continuation in the series that mixes zombie action and smart ass remarks. If you like Mart Tufo’s other books you’ll surely like this one.
Sean Runnette is great as always.
A good short-ish zombie tale. Perfect for the a person who either 1) Loves the author’s work or 2) thinks they will like his work but don’t want to commit to the longer Zombie Fallout book without trying it out first. This book is a good mix of zombie gore, action and bit of wise ass humor. Oh and dog lovers/cat haters will also love this book.
Sean Runnette always does such a great job! Whenever the cat speaks I just think of is Mrs. Deanaux. He adds so much to the book!
‘Invasion Alaska’ is a very good story but I had a hard time rating it. There is a lot of story development taking place so the author gives the listener a good look behind the scenes in China. The scenes are very descriptive which helps fill out the details to the listener. On the downside these take away from time that could be spent on the action and character development (the characters are a bit flat and static throughout). That being said it’s a pretty good mix as long as you’re not looking for mile a minute action. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would but since I can’t 4 stars it is.
Mr. Ashby does a good job with the narration but he’s a bit flat at time not really changing much from one character to the next.
Part post-apocalyptic survival novel, part dark comedy and part western, ‘Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse” is a fun and exciting ride through a world ravened by war, natural disasters and economic meltdowns. The characters are quirky, unique and likable and overall this was just a fun book. I highly recommend it for any who likes action and adventure and is looking for a slight change of pace.
Mr. Sowers does a great job with all the characters and really adds to the enjoyment of the book.
A tale of two books ‘Dead: The Ugly Beginning’ is a solid zombie read. The first one third to half of this book is gore, gore and more gore. Everyone who dies does so in terribly painful way. This part of the story is all action and setting the scene for the second half of the book. I didn’t really like this part of the book because it felt more like whip around news coverage of the zombie apocalypse which no story or plot direction. The second half of the story was great as there is a good balance of both gore and action along with an actual plot. The characters are easy to like and wild and the book is well written. Despite the first half I was going to give it four stars but then it ended with no real resolution to the pending story lines which is one of my pet peeves so it’s it gets three starts in my rating but consider it a three start plus book.
Mr McFerrin does a good job with all of the charaters in his narration!
‘Ranger Confidential’ is an uncensored look at those who protect America’s National Parks. Well written and poignant, the book is a must read for those who are thinking about working in the national parks, and those starting to learn about the outdoors. However if you’re looking for something that makes you want to grab your back and head out to the trail look somewhere else. Reading the article about this book in ‘Backpacker’ magazine I knew parts were going to be sad and gory but I figured that they would be interspersed with sun antidotes about pranks or fun times in the back country, but I was wrong. While there are some (very few) times where the beauty of the parks shows through, or something goes write, if you were to believe this book the life of a ranger really sucks. The book seems to say that they pretty much go from one search and rescue to another while getting paid like crap, and after a while it makes the author seem to be a bit whiny.
Ms. Motyka's narration is OK. She does a good job with the various characters and male voices, but at times she sounds a bit electronic.
A great mix of intrigue, comedy and jersey shore which helps take the reader to the beach. Chris Grabenstein does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the Jersey Shore in this well written story which takes more turns than a mad mouse. Grab some scrapple and settle in for a fun ride!
The Ceepak series is one of those where the narrator adds another whole dimension. I think this series is so much more enjoyable as an audio book because of Mr. Woodman's excellent performance.
Man kind is on the edge of extinction as the Lankies take world after world for their own, but humans can’t stop fighting each other. “Lines of Departure” picks up a short while after the first book “Terms of Enlistment” ends and continues to follow Andrew Grayson as he serves in the NAC navy. Book two offers as much action as book one did, and offers a bit more of a glance at what life is like on earth and on the colonies. Highly recommended for the Sci-Fi fan.
Mr. Daniels does an excellent job with the narration, especially when the characters are in the midst of combat. You could almost be listening in to their communications!
“Hurricane Fever” walks a thin line between action thriller and vacation read. The tropical setting makes this book almost serene (if you listen to the audio book the narrator helps), while the characters rush headlong into a conspiracy they didn’t wish for. With a good balance of character development, plot progression and action this well written thriller is a fun and interesting listen.
Mr. Onayemi does a wonderful job with the narration brining the characters to life with all of their various accents.
A little too short to be a proper story it’s a fun quick listen that gets you interested in the series and introduces you to the characters a bit. Full of action and a bit of humor I think it’s gotten me hooked on the series!
Mt Morgan does an excellent job in the narration!
