I did actually listen to the whole book because I waited in hope of some twist or purpose to the story .... sadly there was none. I purchased because it won the Man Booker prize, I have to say I have no idea why.
I think as others have said this is more of a gay porn novel and as I straight person I found it over the top (probably 1/3 of the book was gay sex), I only tolerated it in the hope the story had some interesting twist around Charles Nantwich... but sadly no .. and well it just ends with no reason, although I was very happy about this in many ways.
I must admit I am a Science fiction person, so was always going to like the story... having read the book when younger and watched the TV show. However the Audio book was just amazing, it has been produced in an epic manner and it is impossible not to get dragged into the story.
I used it to pass time on two very long trips and it made them fly past, the first leg of 13 hours I was almost disappointed to arrived as it meant I had to put a hold to listening to the book
What can I say I was blown away at how average ..... it was simple mindless ranting. thought he was smart with the very regular use of the c and f word… I don’t mind smart swearing but it was just terrible
No where near as good as I had hoped, story 1 nearly made me leave…. The rest not too bad.. nor that good either but good enough to pass the time. I did not bother to finish the last it was too painful as well.
I am such a big supporter of Eliyahu Goldratt and he is an exceptional person. However this audio book is nothing short of a disgrace, for a smart guy he has an egotistically blind spot that is just sad. He is a terrible terrible terrible narrator and makes a good message awful, I think buying this book in audio format would be a terrible error.
A good business book that both is interesting walking through the management life of Jack Welsh, but also giving some great tips and tricks for everyday management. It is not about agreeing with all the approaches but getting more selections for your work tool box… I highly recommend.
I have to say as my first book to listen to in economics for 15 years (when I read books) I loved the overview all bar the last 30 minutes was well balanced and interesting.
I really enjoyed this audio book, in terms of understanding the history of search and the potential future. I also got some good little bits of wisdom. All in all a good book one of the better ones I have heard, I think anybody in the tech industry will enjoy this
