    Any additional comments?

Great tips and given concisely in a direct and uncomplicated narration. I've always loved British accents and this narrator does a really good job. I assume his is the real thing.
Yes - I would suggest this book for the short listen and positive message.

  • Arcadia Falls: Free First Chapter

    • UNABRIDGED (20 mins)
    • By Carol Goodman
    • Narrated By Jen Taylor

In debt after her husband's unexpected death, Meg Rosenthal secures a job as a teacher at an upstate New York boarding school. Leaving suburban Long Island, Meg and her teenage daughter, Sally, embark on a new life in Arcadia Falls, a beautiful but isolated small town and the inspiration for a number of magically eerie fairy tales.

Uber Femme says: "Hard to listen to"
"Cover Appealed to me the most!"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The mother-daughter relationship was not very appealing to me. And I must agree with the other reviews that the whiney-ness of the daughter was grating on my nerves. I don't know if girls really are that way as I don't have daughters, but rather sons, and after listening to their 'back and forth', and am happy to not have one of them like this character.

If you’ve listened to books by Carol Goodman before, how does this one compare?

    No I haven't.

What three words best describe Jen Taylor’s voice?

Upbeat and higher registered. Good inflections.

Do you think Arcadia Falls: Free First Chapter needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I found myself focusing on the story rather than the narration. I believe I would rather read the book.

In five minutes, we’ll bring you up to speed on this national treasure. First we’ll fill you in on a few key facts about his career, and then we’ll hit five important aspects of his writing that are guaranteed to impress friends, family, and potential dates.

David says: "Adds little to the novel"
    "Surprisingly Enjoyable ..."
What did you like best about Light in August Free Bonus: Faulkner in 5 Minutes!? What did you like least?

The rather simple account is narrated from the point of view of fifteen characters, and frequenly jumps from incomplete thoughts of characters only to be resumed in later chapters. Addie Bundren dies and her dirt-poor Mississippi family honors her wish to be buried not on their land but in nearby Jefferson. Although each chapter is narrated by a member or friend of the family - and the outward journey in a mule-driven wagon fraught with trials - ,even these are always secondary to the interior, often confusing, and usually dark revelations of the characters.

I cut and pasted this review because it is an excellent review of Faulkners story. It was an excellent and fine piece of work, nicely weaved into an entertaining audio.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes ... he is Very Engaging.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Just some of the character voices were not quite right, but still did a good job and I enjoyed listening to him very much.

  • Special Delivery

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Elaine Raco Chase
    • Narrated By Destiny Landon, Lee James
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Roxanne Murdoch took the place of an absent employee to deliver a belly-gram, she never expected to spend New Years Eve locked in a bank with the vice president shed been sent to surprise. Yet here she was, a respectable businesswoman, dressed like a harem girl, barricaded against a howling blizzard with handsome Bram Tyler. Soon hed cracked her icy facade and melted her reserve. But what would happen at blizzards end when passion faced reality?

Jeannie says: "Loved It!!! Loved It!!! Loved It!!!!"
"Loved It!!! Loved It!!! Loved It!!!!"
If you could sum up Special Delivery in three words, what would they be?

    I Loved it!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was a very realistic story with Roxanne (main character) struggling between being the highly successful entrepreneur and succumbing and admitting that she may possibly have fallen 'in love' with a man she has only just met. My least favorite part of the story would be the sarcasm between the characters was a bit heavy and tiring and I thought Roxanne should lighten up a bit. But then, that is me mirroring my own personality into someone else's I would guess.

What about Destiny Landon and Lee James ’s performance did you like?

I love Destiny Landons voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She totally took the character of Roxanne and made it her own. She "IS" Roxanne! Lee was a perfect romantic counterpart, angling her combative nature with the right playfulness in his tone that the writer expertly devised in their dialogue.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I wanted to find out if Bram actually did get to kiss Roxanne on New Years Eve! (No .. I won't tell anyone) and I wanted to find out where she ended up after the 'wonderful climax'. There are a few turns that make you sad for the couple, but all ends well .

    Any additional comments?

This is a must "listen" to all you fellow listeners who really enjoy well executed, combative foreplay and well written/descriptive literature.
