"So repetitive!"
If you really want to learn about this topic, get the book from the library and skim it. The information is great, but this effort needs a better editor!
"Wierdly compelling and haunting."
I'm not entirely sure that this book warrants a 4 star review, but if I rate it any lower, I'm afraid you'll pass it over. If you like stories where you know from the beginning that there is something that we're not being told, this is for you. Someone put this in the category of the "unreliable narrator" story, but I'm not sure that even quite describes it. I finished this book weeks ago, and i cant get it out of my head. Definitely worth the credit!
"Tough guys. Dirty Cops. Beautiful women."
When you put this all together, it's better than you might think. The story might appear to be far-fetched, but given the current news out of LA about a rogue cop on the rampage, it all becomes more plausible. We get some good back-story on these characters, and they become more than the stereotypical set of action figures. McLarty's narration is solid, and suitably hard boiled for the material. This was my first foray into the works of Robert Crais, and I want to hear more.
"Hang in there on this one!"
I read this for our book group, and would have quit half way through because of the annoying characters. Things come together toward the end, and all is redeemed.
"Great review for intermediate students!"
I just completed one year of college level Spanish. The course covered basic vocabulary and all grammar, but we rarely had time to practice speaking. I've been looking for a way to keep the language in my mind without being tied to my computer or a book. I started with Level 2 of "Learning Spanish Like Crazy" and it is perfect for my abilities, as long as I set my player on slow speed. This program allows me to compose sentences aloud, followed immediately by the correct answer. The dialogues contain many useful phrases that I will use in daily life. I also was able to download the written text to use as a review. What a deal this is for 1 credit!
"Please, give us more!"
This was a wonderful listen! I keep waiting for audible to bring us the rest of the series. If you liked this, try listening to Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, by Suzannah Clarke.
