No characters, just different types of "drinks" with a lot of great info about their places in history. Who woulda thunk beer has such a history?

He seemed to grasp the plot, bringing the story around where it needed to be with his inflections, and generally his overall feel.

With all of the numerous generations, nationalities, multiple families, historical events that intertwined them all, it would be difficult to pick one character out of so many excellent ones.

Appropriately named, and if I had time to search my mind for a better one, I doubt I would succeed.

That is a hard choice, mainly because Gollum is insightful and very entertaining, but Bilbo is, too, as is Gandalf, but for different reasons.

I can't really say that there was anyone that stood out because of Rob's performance. All were played believably and well.

This is a re-re-re-read for me. Tolkien is that readable.

Yes, easily better. One cannot be nearer to the feel of living there and visiting there, and dealing with the French on their own terms.

I really suggest that readers rent the movie, A Year in Provence. It will give a great insight into Mayle.

The audiobook version of this collection is no better or worse than the print version, but it is a nice change from reading, especially when time is precious. I have a hard time sitting and doing just one thing, like reading, since I always want to do other things at the same time I am being "entertained." I did that a lot with this one, including having a night time story read to me at bedtime!

Volume 2, of course, and any other collections of Conan Doyle.

Can't think of any, but them I am numb from the pure base-ness of this book. I would love to see the demographics of those who apparently LOVE this book. Bet they are a bunch of "horny" teenie-bopper-types.

I have already suggested this book to many friends and family. A real learning experience, well done, easy to listen to, and kept pulling me to it each time I had to do other things!

I compare this book favorably to The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Unbroken is a lot shorter, of course, but no less informative of this era in world history. Unbroken is destined to be a classic.

He was easy to listen to, his delivery made sense, and was consistently good in every way, including consistent in his enunciation (proper) of names, certain "terms," etc. I compare this to The Rise and Fall in that the narrator mispronounced "coup de GRAS," for example, and pronounced some of Hitler's cronies' names, sometimes pronouncing them correctly, sometimes not, etc. Not saying that it is not a classic, but you cannot help notice when someone puts the "s" on the end of "GRAS." Back to Unbroken . . . Loved it. Plan another listen in the near future to pick up some of the details I may have missed first time around.

Plan to listen to this more than once. Well worth it. Descriptive enough to replace the need to see this on t.v.!
