I bought this book while on sale after being on my wish list for a while- I can tell you this was one funny book. Very creative and original characters. So when you get those emails for the sale of the week of whatever, browse the contents. You never know what surprise you'll find.
I will recommend this book to a friend ONLY if I knew my friend had HIGH tolerance to gore.
Hard to pick a favorite character. That being said the main protagonist had many (pleasantly surprised) layers
Good accents. Great female voices
Almost every single chapter of this book gave me a extreme reaction. And by reaction I mean gore, discuss and severe head shaking
Even though this book is a good work of fiction I cannot say I enjoyed it. Rough book to get thru. I read other reviewers opinions on how gory this book was and boy they weren't kidding. Lots of sexual violence and profanity. Read under your own risk
No. I would not listen to this book again unless they come to their senses and have Asford McNabb read it. Just plain awful. It just ruined the series for me.
I could not believe there was more than one Ghost of St Giles!
Not the right narrator for this book. All the male voices were annoying, arrogant, not sexy at all. The female voices were ok.
Please have Ashford Mcnabb come back to this beloved series.
Excellent performance by the two narrators. Very engaging, made the characters feel trully alive. I agree with some of the other reviews. You will be desappointed at the end of this book. Even though the story itself it's good and well developed. You will scream and cry and want your money back. But you won't do anything. Because you know you loved the book; you bought the story whole, sinker, line and bait. You'll find yourself switching sides every other chapter. And most disturbing of all, you will find your own personal traits are uncomfortably too similar to those of the characters. It may be cliche but this book is definitely haunting.Good luck looking at your spouse the same way.
Yes. It was a very fun and a wonderful surprise.
This story had the right amount of SPUNK and an original story line.
Very engaging reader. Very clear performance
Laugh. Lots of laughing.
I'm a bit undecided about the rest of the series. But the characters are so entertraining that I think it should be worth the risk to finish the series.
First time reading/listening to Ms. Hoyt and Ms. MacNab and I must say they did a terrific job both with the story and the narration. Kept me engaged through out. Looking forward to book #2 and book #3. Although I've read other reviews about Ms. Hoyt's other series that weren't as good as these books.
Overall a good choice to spend your credits.
I downloaded this book based on all the 4 and 5 stars that was given. But honestly I felt cheated out of my credit. The story wasn't neither original, nor very "magical". The descriptions of the Cornwall region seemed to have been ripped right out of a local tour brochure, full of cliches. The author spent all her creativity in making these characters unnatural good looking but felt short in giving them any sustancial depth. The narrator did a fairly decent job even with the male voices. I have to agree with another reviewer that it was more like a "reading" and not a "performance". If you like a cheesy, Lifetime channel movie of the week, this book is for you. Otherwise I suggest you save your credit for something better.
