Newly discharged from the Marines after World War II, Scotty Bowers arrived in Hollywood in 1946. Young, charismatic, and strikingly handsome, he quickly caught the eye of many of the town's stars and starlets. He began sleeping with some himself, and connecting others with his coterie of young, attractive, and sexually free-spirited friends.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe to some, as it's a racy story.

What did you like best about this story?

    Its graphic nature.

Have you listened to any of Johnny Heller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never heard him before, but he did a fine job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Without giving anything away, there were a couple of deaths that were particularly saddening to me.

    Any additional comments?

This is an "adults only" book and leans towards the gay male audience. Scotty was obvious bisexual and related many stories that were both interesting and even amusing. You will be shocked at the orientation and escapades of stars from the past. I envied Scotty for his association with the rich and famous. Great book!

This is my second Stephan Collins novel and I really enjoy the way he mixes eroticism with a good story. There are plenty of believable twists that make the plot way more enjoyable, and the main character is easily lovable. I look forward to more work by this author.

Top TV critic Joe McBride, is doing fine professionally, but his private life is a mess, what with a five-year-old daughter, an angry ex-wife, and a very-soon-to-be-ex-fiancée, not to mention a come-hither co-anchor and a beautiful brand-new neighbor who's alluring, available...and much, much, more than meets the eye.

This is an adult listen and if you like erotic parts mixed with a good plot, you'll enjoy this book. The story is easy to get into and there is a surprise ending that I also enjoyed.

    "Great Novel"
    Overall

I read the reviews and complaints about the reader using lame voices. That was not even a problem for me. The voices were such a minor distraction that once I got used to the reader's style, I got into the story completely. This is a really well thought out story and I really enjoyed it. My only criticism is that there were at least three voids in the story line. The voice just dropped out for several seconds. Even so, this didn't effect my understanding of what was going on. I'm going to be downloading more of Phillip Margolin!

Shane Scully and his partner are assigned to the case of "the Fingertip Killer", a serial murderer preying on homeless veterans in Los Angeles. Every two weeks he strikes: he beats his victims, then shoots them in the back of the head. Once they're dead, he cuts off their fingertips, closes their eyes, and tosses them in the river.

    "Loved it!"
    Overall

This was a great listen! One of the detectives was from South Carolina and was a scream to listen to. I had not expected humor when downloading this mystery, but I got my share of that along with a great story line and great characters. As always, Scott Brick was an exceptional reader as well. I'm now a Stephen J. Cannel fan!

Maureen O'Donnell wasn't born lucky. A psychiatric patient and survivor of sexual abuse, she's stuck in a dead-end job and a secretive relationship. She's about to end her affair with Douglas when she wakes up one morning to find him in her living room, with his throat slit.

It took me two days to get to where I understood the reader, but once I understood the accents, the book was pretty good. The characters were likeable and I enjoyed the different personalities. I especially enjoyed that the main character wasn't a "Miss Goody Two Shoes".

The clock ticks, and the second one can still be saved. But the police never make it in time. The second one dies. For years, the killer has plagued the city with the same pattern, but the police never pick up on it quickly enough.

    "Disappointing!"
    Overall

This book was like eating a delicious chocolate sundae only to find a cockroach in the bottom. I don't understand how an author could so brilliantly build up a story line with good facts and characters only to dribble off in the end leaving the reader with NO satisfaction with regard to the plot. I was truly angry at having invested over 14 hours into this book.

    "What a wild story!"
    Overall

This is my first read by this author, but I was totally hooked after the first chapter. Christopher Moore is an insane and very funny guy and I'll be looking for more of his work. This story dragged in a couple of places, but overall, it was quite entertaining. There were lots of crazy characters and descriptions like I've never heard before. What an imagination! This is not a kids story and there is liberal profanity and some adult scenes. I loved it!
