It's Christmas Eve and Detective Alex Cross has been called out to catch someone who's robbing his church's poor box. That mission behind him, Alex returns home to celebrate with Bree, Nana, and his children. The tree decorating is barely underway before his phone rings again - a horrific hostage situation is quickly spiraling out of control. Away from his own family on the most precious of days, Alex calls upon every ounce of his training, creativity, and daring to save another family.

What would have made Merry Christmas, Alex Cross better?

I love the Alex Cross series, but this one did not meet standards. I felt that it was rushed from beginning to end.

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrators?

    Yes

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It was a quick read with the usual good narration.

The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane.

Joanne says: "Wow, Jane does it again!"

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Ms Hvam's narration is perfect. Her many voices are a great addition to the story and to each character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is the fifth book in the series and Faith Hunter has hit her stride. Characters expand, plot lines are explained and she leaves room for more books as her characters grow and information is revealed. It made me laugh and cry. Jane's compassion and humanity are really out in the open as she deals with friends from the children's home. I would bet that these new characters will appear again in future books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Raven Calls?

I like the way this book pulls separate strands from the others together. The interaction between Jo and her mother are strong and revealing.

Have you listened to any of Gabra Zackman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She has gotten better. I like her voices.

Would you listen to Relic again? Why?

I listened to Relic again after I bought the sequal to refresh my memory.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book doesn't really move the reader, it scares the reader. There is lots of suspense and it is easy to visualize scenes.

    Any additional comments?

Relic would make a good movie.

Yes. Good narration and an excellent story.

What made the experience of listening to Steve Jobs the most enjoyable?

The narrator was good but he had well written material to work with.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Steve Jobs?

I can't pick just one moment. Learning the behind the scenes decisions about Apple and the Mac and all of the products that have evolved over time was really interesting. And getting to know the Steve Jobs persona along the way is fascinating.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Egocentric genius!

    Any additional comments?

Great book. One I will listen to again.

The Two Towers is the second volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic saga, The Lord of the Rings. The Fellowship has been forced to split up. Frodo and Sam must continue alone towards Mount Doom, where the One Ring must be destroyed. Meanwhile, at Helm’s Deep and Isengard, the first great battles of the War of the Ring take shape. In this splendid, unabridged audio production of Tolkien’s great work, all the inhabitants of a magical universe - hobbits, elves, and wizards - spring to life. Rob Inglis’ narration has been praised as a masterpiece of audio.

If you could sum up The Two Towers in three words, what would they be?

    Writing +narration=greatness

Who was your favorite character and why?

Because this trilogy, along with the Hobbit is so well known it is almost impossible to answer this question. I have read the books silently and out loud to my children and bought the books in audible because I was told the narrator was outstanding. He is.

    Any additional comments?

I recommend this series to all who love the books.

The Big Burn is an eye opener. It reads like a suspense thriller in a way because you are rooting for humans against the fire. Images are incredible and the mind set of the time as well as the political strife is well explained through the unfolding of this most terrible firestorm.
