You don't have to be controlled by difficult people! Strange as it may seem, other people are not nearly as committed to our happiness as we are. In fact, sometimes it seems like they’re on a mission to make us miserable! There’s always that one person. The one who hijacks our emotions. The one who seems to thrive on drama. If we could just “fix” that person, everything would be better. But we can’t fix other people. We can only make choices about ourselves.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Sadly, before purchasing this book, I only read the synopsis and the first few reviews. Had I done my homework and read more of the reviews, I would have seen the one that pointed out that this book has a strong religious component to it.

Had I seen that, I would have saved my money.

The author's reading is done well (hence the 3 stars for performance), however the content and it's emphasis on God, the Bible and matters of Faith were not for me.

Has People Can't Drive You Crazy If You Don't Give Them the Keys turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, however I will be more careful to read ALL of the reviews before purchasing next time.

What three words best describe Mike Bechtle’s voice?

    Personable, clear, emotive

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from People Can't Drive You Crazy If You Don't Give Them the Keys?

The subtle yet ever present proselytizing.

When we last left the mighty wizard detective Harry Dresden, he wasn't doing well. In fact, he had been murdered by an unknown assassin. But being dead doesn't stop him when his friends are in danger. Except now he has nobody, and no magic to help him. And there are also several dark spirits roaming the Chicago shadows who owe Harry some payback of their own. To save his friends - and his own soul - Harry will have to pull off the ultimate trick without any magic....

Would you consider the audio edition of Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13 to be better than the print version?

No. I have a 2 hour daily commute and I have listened to all the Dresden books with James Marsters narration from book #1 right up to this one. Let's just say I'm invested in the series at this point, in more ways than one. Today's ride in got me as far as chapter 9 and I can't take it anymore...I ordered the book from Amazon. I'm sure John Glover is a fine narrator...for other books...but I'm sorry, once you are this far into a series, any other voice telling Harry's story (for me) completely distracts from the story itself. The nuances aren't there. The character voices are all wrong.Guess I'll be listening to Side Jobs on my commute while I finish Ghost Story the old fashioned way.

What other book might you compare Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13 to and why?

Butcher's story is great, as always, and I found myself wanting to like this audiobook - without giving anything away, I was just happy there was another one after Changes! But without Marsters, I can't tolerate it let alone like it. Again, NOT referring to the story here, just the narration.

What three words best describe John Glover’s voice?

Grating, nasal, just plain WRONG for this book. (Disclaimer: I've never listened to Glover in any other audiobooks, so this is by no means a condemnation of his voice in general...only as a "substitute" Harry Dresden)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Nope, in fact I gave up due to the narration and bought the eBook.

    Any additional comments?

I am a huge fan of this series and will continue to be...but unless I see that James Marsters is narrating, I'll be reading any new Dresden Files that come out.
