After listening to the other 5 books, I was of course anticipating the completion of the series...however, this particular installment was drawn out, boring, and left many loose ends and unanswered questions; such as....what the heck happened to the kitsunai who gave stephan the bouquet? We never heard anything else about him, and the whole subject of stephan becoming human was just forgotten...I did notice, that though this was to be the completion of the series, the door WAS left open for more books....

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris has won numerous awards for her Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series, which has been adapted into the hit HBO show True Blood. In this 13th and final book, a murder rocks the town of Bon Temps and Sookie is arrested for the crime. After making bail, she sets out to clear her name - but her investigation only leads to more deaths.

What did you love best about Dead Ever After?

I always enjoy the twists and turns...once Sookie gets out of one situation she falls right into another.I am happy with the way the series was wrapped up....despite all the "team Eric / team Bill" nonsense, it was always inconceivable for Sookie to end up with either of them, and there has always been an undercurrent throughout the series, that if you paid attention, led you to Sookie and Sam ending up together. It was blazingly obvious at the end of the last book, but the author didn't do the cheesy "and they lived happily ever after" ending, she made it very realistic and kept Sookie true to herself first. Before buying this book I read a lot of complaints about this and that, how the series had been going downhill, etc., and I disagree with all of that. Yes, it would have been nice for Sookie to ask Bill how Bubba was doing, so we would know what became of him, but the book coming out in October should take care of that.

What other book might you compare Dead Ever After to and why?

None that I can think of....

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Unlike some narrators, she has been consistent with the voices of the characters throughout the entire 13 books, so you are never confused about who is speaking.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

I think, after reading some highly uncomplimentary reviews of this book, that people should remember that this is fiction, for entertainment purposes, and ultimately the author's creation. Anyone who feels so strongly that this book is crap is more than welcome to write something better.....

A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.

What did you like best about Retribution? What did you like least?

Love Jess from Dance with the Devil, and glad to see him get a story, but I'm very confused...I downloaded this book the day it came out, and listened to it many times, as it was so very different from the other DH books, with the native American theme and all.....
Then, in anticipation of the upcoming "Time Untime" I listened to it again this week, and it was different ...I mean, the end was different.... Much more detail, and I am VERY confused....

What didn’t you like about Holter Graham’s performance?

He really has no range.... All his characters sound "American" despite the discriptions of their ethnic backgrounds....While, in comparison to Maggie meg reed, carrington macduffie, and (shudder) William Dupree, he's the lessor of all evils, he can't seem to remember that he's done these books before, and doesn't carry through with his characters.... The main discrepancy being Nick, but there are many more....Sin, Zarek, Dev, etc.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Probably, out of morbid curiosity

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

What made the experience of listening to Gone Girl the most enjoyable?

The narrators nailed it..... I loved all "Amy"'s sarcasm.....The narrator did such a good job that I can easily forgive her one mispronounciation.....it's Fes-teeeeee-va....

And the twists and turns....don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but it was totally " M. Knight Shayamalon" for me.....things you totally didn't see coming....

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Nick, of course.....

    Any additional comments?

Wondering if the very unpleasant, mind-boggling, unsatisfying ending for poor Nick might be leading up to a sequel?

Susan Michaels was once the hottest reporter on the Beltway Beat until a major scandal ruined her life and left her writing stories about alien babies and Elvis sightings. Life as she once knew it is over, or so she thinks until she gets a lead on the biggest story in town: The Seattle Slayer. She heads to the local animal shelter, expecting a tip on the latest rash of killings. Instead, she gets a story about the mayor feeding citizens to a ring of vampires. Yeah, just another day in her life.

Would you try another book from Sherrilyn Kenyon and/or Maggi-Meg Reed?

    Sherrilyn, yes, Maggi, no

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark Side of the Moon?

One that was not included in the audio abridged version

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She had a very annoying voice

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dark Side of the Moon?

Trust me, this book has been butchered enough, and anyone who follows the series would agree that integral parts were cut from the audio. As an editor, I'd put them back...

    Any additional comments?

yes, PLEASE....Re-do this audio book UNABRIDGED, with Holter Graham or Fred Burman, who have done the rest of the series....

Where does Fifty Shades Darker rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's definitely a different type of story than I usually listen to

What did you like best about this story?

The personal journey Christian undertakes to make a better life for himself and Ana.

What aspect of Becca Battoe’s performance would you have changed?

Where to start? She does better in sounding more mature in regards to Ana's character, losing the "valley girl" intonations, but Christian and Jack Hyde sound absolutely ridiculous! Who talks like that? I didn't have a problem with those characters in book one....

And she definitely hasn't learned to correctly pronounce several words....

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listen to books constantly as I don't have time to sit down and read them myself.

    Any additional comments?

I really think the author should be consulted when choosing a narrator to insure that the audio comes off the way she meant it to when she wrote it....

Persuasion, Jane Austen's final novel, follows the romance of Anne Elliot and naval officer Frederick Wentworth. They were happily engaged until Anne's friend, Lady Russell, persuaded her that Frederick was "unworthy". Now, eight years later, Frederick returns, a wealthy captain in the navy, while Anne's family teeters on the edge of bankruptcy. They still love each other, but their past mistakes threaten to keep them apart.

Not sure how I ended up with this version, but I don't think this narrator took a breath through the whole book. She reads at warp speed, but I can't listen at warp speed, and the hissing sound of her 'S's grated on my nerves...
