    Joe Pike, ex-Sniper, ex-Policeman, ex-Mercenary... a complex, screwed-up character.

    The pace of this book is slowed down by the character development and relationships that develop between Pike and the rich 'hot' girl that he is protecting. I ended up liking both characters much more than a lot of action-hero characters like "Jack Reacher" books by Lee Child (I highly recommend Lee Child books for there extreme action). Pike and the 'babe' became more real and touching (you will actually feel for these characters).

    The plot was definitely not predictable. Especially in regards to the gratuitous sex between leading characters in most books and movies. Furthermore, the ending of the book was a bit sad.

    I purchased this book both on the reader reviews of both Amazon and Audible. "The Watchman" deserves it's favorable high ranking.

    I rounded up and gave the book 5 stars.

    Been waiting for this to become availiable... Watching audible @ midnight for it tob e released. ... then this morning... Then by luck I saw it @ 2:00pm PST. FINALLY!

    Brandon Sanderson does such a great job with Jordans series... I was so desperate, I bought the presequel last night at 2:00 am....

    I was inspired to write this after seeing the first reviewer message after 1 hour into the book. :-D

    Fun series of books.

    This is the first of the series.

    Currently, the second and third books are two credits (a bit high priced). If you liked books by Bernard Cornwell (Sharp's Rifles Series), C.S. Forester's Hornblower saga, Frederick Marryat - Peter Simple saga, and Patrick O'Brian - Jack Aubrey series you will also like this series.

    Some books of the series are a bit slow (at parts), and lots of sailing until the battles and sex... Dewey Lambdin writing is excellent but is not worth the extra credit with the choice of comparable books.

    Exciting new thriller where the vampires are not pretty, sensuous, romantic, or talkative.

    I would not classify this book as horror. It is more like the excitement of the type found in the movie Jurassic Park.

    The production of the audio is excellent. It has both music and great narration.

    This is the first book of a trilogy. The book ended with a completeness (as opposed to trilogies which really should be only a single book but is stretch purely for a financial gain).

    The book is not totally a 5 star book, but it is much better than being ranked 4. This book is definitely book-to-movie material.

    I sometimes listen to audio books until I fall asleep, THIS BOOK KEPT ME UP ALL NIGHT!

    This story continues with characters that first appeared in the book "The Poet". "The Scarecrow" is set 10 years (or so) afterwards. Although this book stands on it's own, you might consider reading the "The Poet" first.

    NOTE: The narrator mispronounces the word "colocation" to sound like "call-location", and the author refers to "towers" (computer towers) which I believe should be referred to as computer racks. Do a google search so that you can visualize what a computer rack looks like in case you are not familiar. A state-of-the-are colocation facility would NOT promote floor computer cases (i.e. tower case) but rather rack mountable computers.
