A great Jude Deveraux classic, with all her elements of romantic fantasy and adventure.
Davina didn't always change her voice enough to distinguish between characters, I found myself losing track sometimes, and her voice was too deep for the character of Edilene.
I love Jude D's stories.....always a great talented and strong female who has to fight for her very handsome dreamboat of a man!
The authour uses great long sentences, with far too many descriptions for some trivial thoughts and situations. Too wordy and repetitive, just as it was nearly getting to the modern scenes and developing them, it would jump back to 1962 again. I nearly stopped listening 3 times thru the book, but thought I better persevere as it came so highly recommended by the editors at Audible. Too cynical and tragic It may as well have been a true story about sad peoples lives and missed opportunity.
No - don't bother. too dark and depressing for my liking
Where Pasqual grows into manhood and finds enough courage to claim his child and the hand of his lover in marriage.also the play at the end involving Pat (Pasqual namesake) is very moving
It was all the positive reviews that talked me into buying this audio book. I will no longer place such trust in the editors at audible. Can't think how they came to choose this one as book of the year?
The narrator was very good.
