  • Men in Black: How the Supreme Court is Destroying America

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs)
    • By Mark R. Levin
    • Narrated By Jeff Riggenbach
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Supreme Court endorses terrorists' rights, flag burning, and importing foreign law. Is that in the Constitution? You're right: it's not. But these days the Constitution is no restraint on our out-of-control Supreme Court. The Court imperiously strikes down laws and imposes new ones purely on its own arbitrary whims. Even though liberals like John Kerry are repeatedly defeated at the polls, the majority on the allegedly "conservative" Supreme Court reflects their views and wields absolute power.

    "Eye Opening"

I have been engrossed in politics since 2001 ... 3rd quarter, if you catch my drift ... but I learned A LOT from this book. If you care about your America, this is a must read!

  • The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By Anne McCaffrey
    • Narrated By Meredith MacRae
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Travel back to the earliest days of Pernese history in this first-ever Dragonriders of Pern short story collection. Building a new life on a distant world, braving the dreaded Thread that falls like silver rain from the sky only to destroy every living thing it touches, flying heroically on the wondrous dragons - The Dragonriders of Pern!

Matthew says: "Good stories, poorly read."
    "Poor reading ruins this"

I couldn't even finish listening to part one. I only gave it one star because I believe the story has to be better than the reading. While a perfect and clear English speaker, the reader makes no effort to make any character voices whatsoever, and inflection is limited to basic grammar-based emphasis (like lilts for questions, and emphasis for exclamations). Grade wouldn't even be above a "D" for a public speaking class, let alone as a book narrator. She makes me drowsy. Choose a different reader, or a printed book over this disappointment!

  • Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 8 mins)
    • By David Allen
    • Narrated By David Allen

From core principles to proven tricks, Getting Things Done has the potential to transform the way you work - and the way you experience work. At any level of implementation, David Allen's entertaining and thought-provoking advice shows you how to pick up the pace without wearing yourself down.

Blue Skies Ahead says: "Get the "Paper Book" instead."

Typical of a self-help book. For someone who's lived a life like mine, just another rehash of the obvious delivered with passion to make older concepts seem new.

  • Inventing a Nation: Washington, Adams, Jefferson

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Gore Vidal
    • Narrated By Paul Hecht, Gore Vidal

Volumes have been written about George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, but no previous work captures the intimate and vital details the way Inventing a Nation does. Vidal's consummate skill takes you into the minds and private rooms of these great men, illuminating their opinions of one another and their concerns about crafting a workable democracy.

    Qbook says: "Cynical But Good"

American history as written by an America hater, complete with snide and disparaging asides of pure (and rather hateful) opinion. For conspiracy theorists, perhaps, a must listen, for everyone else, pure trash! Not worth it at any price.

  • First Lensman: Lensman Series

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By E. E. 'Doc' Smith
    • Narrated By Reed McColm

In the not-too-distant future, while fleets of commercial space ships travel between the planets of numerous solar systems, a traveler named Virgil Samms visits the planet Arisia. There, he becomes the first wearer of the Lens, the almost-living symbol of the forces of law and order. As the first Lensman, Samms helps to form the Galactic Patrol, a battalion of Lensmen who are larger-than-life heroes. These soldiers are the best of the best, with incredible skill, stealth, and drive.

DJM says: "Lensman Series is Still Fun"
    "The beginning"

As with any series, the first isn't the best, but this is classic sci-fi. It formed some of the beginning basis for my appreciation for fiction, and will always be awesome to me! The space-opera may be hard to get used to for young readers, but the Lensmen rule! This book is worth it for credit or cash!
