Cop-turned-lawyer Stone Barrington, he of street smarts, dry wit, and debonair charm, becomes reacquainted with a case he thought was buried years ago, and must settle romantic entanglements that haunt him still. Allison Manning, the beautiful and enigmatic woman Stone defended against a murder charge in Dead in the Water, mysteriously reappears to request his help with a set of problems she has never resolved.

Julia N. says: "Good but not great. Easy to listen to Dick Hill"
    "Very bad, waste of time"
    Overall

I really enjoyed most of his other books but this one was disappointing. It had multiple plots that were just boring and predictable.

Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara hit it off in prison, where they were both doing time for grand theft auto. Now that they're out, they're joining forces for one big score. The plan is to kidnap the wife of a wealthy Detroit developer and hold her for ransom. But they didn't figure the lowlife husband wouldn't want his lady back. So it's time for Plan B and the opportunity to make a real killing - with the unlikely help of a beautiful, ticked-off housewife who's hungry for a large helping of sweet revenge.

Vicky says: "Fun short book; enjoyed the read but a B"
    "Very good, but........"
    Overall

..........look, you know that Elmore Leonard is one of the best, if not the best, story tellers of all time. In addition, his books are perfect for audible. But, the narrator was okay but not great. What I did not like was the ending. Then again you may think it is a great ending. Anyway, take the time to listen to this book, it's worth the time.

Detective John Corey now faces his toughest assignment yet: the pursuit and capture of the world's most dangerous terrorist -- a young Arab known as "The Lion" who has baffled a federal task force and shows no sign of stopping in his quest for revenge against the American pilots who bombed Libya and killed his family.

    Patricia says: "Totally predictable"
    "BIG disappointment"
    Overall

The obvious was overlooked. The editor should be fired. For anyone that is into to the mystery/suspense would have seen the "flaws" in this book after the first few chapters. In addition the narrator [S. Brick] was a joke. It was like listening to a cartoon character. However, the plot and story line was good enough to feel like "I wasn't ripped off" in buying this book.

A tour bus crashes in a savage snowstorm and lands Jack Reacher in the middle of a deadly confrontation. In nearby Bolton, South Dakota, one brave woman is standing up for justice in a small town threatened by sinister forces. If she's going to live long enough to testify, she'll need help. Because a killer is coming to Bolton, a coldly proficient assassin who never misses.

Gustavo says: "Make sure you have time before you start"
    "Disappointing"
    Overall

Like his other books, Lee Child does a great job developing both the plot and the characters. That’s the only good thing I can say about 61 Hours. Everything else is below standards. It’s almost like he or his editor didn’t care.

Matthew Mercer and Harris Sandler are playing a mysterious game. It's a game almost no one knows about: not their friends, not their coworkers, and certainly not their bosses, who are some of the most powerful senators and congressmen on Capitol Hill.

    Rodney says: "Great political novel"
    "If you like Scott Brick...."
    Overall

...you will most likely give this a three star or maybe four stars. I cannot listen to Scott Brick. It is like finger nails on a blackboard. Unfortunately, I got this book without checking the narrator. Brad Meltz is a very good writer. So, I listened and couldn't stop because I needed to know how it ended.

Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

Sandi J Wilson says: "FABULOUS FIND"
"Silly, stupid, gross and downright dumb!"
    Overall

The only thing good was the narration. This book is a waste of time unless you like to listen to the “f” word, silly drawn out scenes and a plot that was dumb. Why did I listen to the whole thing? Again, good narration.

When rookie lawyer Jessica Ford gets the call from her boss, John Davenport, the senior partner at the illustrious law firm for which she works, she can tell he is well on his way to being drunk. He needs Jess to meet First Lady Annette Cooper, for whom Davenport is a personal lawyer, at a Washington, D.C., hotel. Jess is thrilled: this high-profile assignment must mean that she's earned her boss's trust and she's on her way to bigger things. But unfortunately, bigger isn't always better.

Save your money. This could have been a fair book if it were narated by someone else, anyone else, a good book if it was edited by someone else, anyone else, and a great book if written by someone else; Lee Child, Stewart Woods etc. It had a plot that kept me listening. However, I just got bored with the author and naration.

Known for tackling hot-button issues in her timely fiction, Jodi Picoult has sold millions of books. Change of Heart explores capital punishment and organized religion through the tale of death row inmate Shay Bourne. Bourne's last request is to donate his heart to his victim's ailing sister. The situation gets more complicated when Bourne begins performing miracles in full view of witnesses - including his Catholic spiritual advisor.

    Sue says: "Amazing"
"Tiring but maybe worth more than two stars..."
    Overall

If it were not for the wonderful narration I would have stopped listen to this book after an hour or so. I selected this book after listening to Jodi Picoult's My Sister’s Keeper. NOW THAT WAS AN OUTSTANDING BOOK. However, if you are into religion and some interesting twists and turns, this book may be for you.

  • World Without End

    • UNABRIDGED (45 hrs and 40 mins)

In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Laura says: "Repetitive, but still enjoyable"
    "Not recommended..."
    Overall

I was very disappointed. This gifted writer let his need to enlist his penchant for an excessive amount of detailed sexual encounters destroy what would have been an outstanding fiction/history novel. Be prepared to "fast-forward" through the smut.
