What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

different messages, different narrator, updated material

Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?

    Sorry, no

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

I'm afraid not--and certainly not in the live environment

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, frustration, sadness, embarrassment, and, worst of all, de-motivation. . . I found it annoying, condescending, and devoid of any new material. I wish there was a way to return it and get my credit back . . .

I tried as hard as I could--made it through over an hour hoping it would get better, but it only seemed to get worse.

    Any additional comments?

One good thing, this reminds me of what not to do when I'm speaking with a new audience . . .

Would you consider the audio edition of Crime à Cannes [Crime in Cannes] to be better than the print version?

Only have the audio and it is just what I needed. It is read perfectly in clear and carefully enunciated, yet very realistic French. As I settled into listening to the narrative, I found my ability to follow and comprehend French improving by the minute--a perfect refresher for once fluent but rusty French.

What other book might you compare Crime à Cannes [Crime in Cannes] to and why?

Only the others of this series--wish there were more similar French narratives geared for mid-level French

What about Christian Lause’s performance did you like?

Good and clear and entertaining--manages to get the different characters and voices well

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not quite--as I was refreshing my French, it helped to work on it in medium sized chunks to make sure I remained focused--the companion workbook really helps as a review after listening. Then, another listen, after consulting the companion text really all falls into place.

    Any additional comments?

Very well done. . . I downloaded the next one and am about to listen to it -- preparing for a trip to France next month--a perfect fun way to review!
