No, listening to this story once is enough. I thought Andrew McCarthy would tell a better story. Sadly he reads flatly without enough inflection and pauses to make things interesting. While he is widely known for his travel stories, I found them pretty boring.
His son. He seemed to have lost the most.
No. I listened to it in the car to and from work. Sometimes I just wished it would be over. McCarthy's self apologetic style was boring much of the time. I just wanted to shout, "grow up, already!".
This book is for people who have never given a thought to the differences among people. Perhaps people who stereotype others. Or who lack empathy. It is not at all interesting or entertaining. Solomon colors his discoveries by his own sad youth of not being able to express himself as a gay person growing up.
Rob Lowe's voice and his way of telling the stories. It was like you were sitting with him in his living room.
His honesty and transparency.
He had inflections in his voice, which many readers don't bother with. And his imitations of other actors.
I was moved. And it was hilarious, I would be driving along and laughing outloud.
It has to be! Kristen's voice is the best part.
When she was in the hospital for the second time. Her own insights are hilarious.
Yes. I had it on all the time.
I loved this book for the story and because Penny Marshall was the reader. Her accent is priceless. The recollections of her life so far and so funny and sweet as well. I didn't want it to end. I felt like I was listening to my best friend. I had to go out and rent all the Laverne and Shirley episodes, I just had to see them again.
The author's preoccupation with death made what could have been a delightful tale an onerous burden. The imaginary friend has too long monologues so that we never fully get to meet his owner. There are too many contradictions regarding what the imaginary friend can and cannot do, like go through doors but not walls or curtains that take away from the preciousness of the tale.
The narrator wasn't too bad.
It started out ok.
