    I liked the basic story of 2 handicapped people finding each other, however this book had major disappointments for me:

    . even though most of the book is set in Burma, there's really not much about Burma;
    . the writing is often predictable;
    . the 'love story' includes dumping another woman;
    . a lot reads like a romance novel; and finally....
    . it's way too MUSHY for me!

    That said, you may like it....I have friends who adored it!

    Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

    King Peggy chronicles the astonishing journey of an American secretary who suddenly finds herself king to a town of 7,000 souls on Ghana's central coast, half a world away. Upon arriving for her crowning ceremony in beautiful Otuam, she discovers the dire reality: there's no running water, no doctor, and no high school, and many of the village elders are stealing the town's funds. To make matters worse, her uncle (the late king) sits in a morgue awaiting a proper funeral in the royal palace, which is in ruins.

    I live right outside Washington, DC and invited King Peggy, via Facebook, to my bookclub meeting last weekend since we would be discussing her book, SHE CAME, ALONG WITH HER COAUTHOR and she is as witty and amusing as in the book! She told us more stories about her people....their innocence reminds me of those described in "The Number One Ladies Detective" novels.

    The narrator did a great job with all the voices too!

    Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

    Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells, taken without her knowledge, became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first immortal human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than 60 years.

    What did you love best about The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks?

    When I heard about this book - and saw the size of it - I was imagining a long, dreary treatise on the cells of Henrietta Lacks! It turned out to be so much more, especially a human interest story. Sad and fascinating.

    Who was your favorite character and why?

    Rebecca Skloot was my favorite character because I could identify with her.

    Have you listened to any of Cassandra Campbell and Bahni Turpin ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

    If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    What happened to Henrietta?
