  • A Sense of Urgency

True urgency is a gut-level determination to move and win, now. Its practitioners are unusually alert. They come to work each day determined to achieve something important, and they shed irrelevant activities to move faster and smarter. Kotter reveals a distinctive view of the kind of urgency needed in every organization. He also highlights the insidious nature of its nemesis, complacency, in all its guises.

While some of the ideas presented in this book are helpful it's presentation leaves much to be desired. I had a difficult time staying awake listening to it.

In iLeadership, Jay Elliot gives the listener the opportunity of seeing Steve Jobs as only his closest associates have ever seen him, and to learn what has made him - and the mystique of his management style - capable of creating tools so extraordinary that they have remade three industries and have transformed the way we create, consume, and communicate with each other.

This is a good insight into Apple and Steve Job from an Apple insider. Elliot's book is well written and engaging. It provides a concise profile of the business practices that helped to make Jobs the icon he is at a very manageable length. Unlike other biographies it doesn't go into depth of Jobs' quirky personality traits and sticks with his business story.
    I enjoyed it.

  • Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 9 mins)

    • Narrated By Fred Sanders

Why we think it’s a great listen: Want to join the “superhumans”? Luckily you don’t have to run to catch up with them, thanks to McDougall’s and Sanders’ inspiring (and motivating) journey through history, science, physiology, health, entertaining characters and unlikely friendships. Full of incredible characters, amazing athletic achievements, cutting-edge science, and, most of all, pure inspiration, Born to Run is an epic adventure.

Corey says: "Amazing read - even for non-runners"
    "Well crafted and inspiring"
    Overall

This is a well written and exceptionally well read book. If you are a runner you will undoubtedly be captivated by McDougall's story involving the unusual world of ulta-running and the strange characters that inhabit it. If you're a couch potato this is a fascinating story of people caught in the madness of running really far. It is a well crafted work that is both entertaining and informative. Highly recommended.
