A torso in a suitcase looks like an impossible case, but Sean Duffy isn’t easily deterred, especially when his floundering love life leaves him in need of a distraction. So with detective constables McCrabban and McBride, he goes to work identifying the victim. The torso turns out to be all that’s left of an American tourist who once served in the U.S. military. What was he doing in Northern Ireland in the midst of the 1982 Troubles?

No birth announcement could top the headlines from the day Janie and Jack Perkins entered the world. As twins born to a mother in a coma - courtesy of a bullet from their father - the sensational story of their birth never quite died down. While Jack still craves the flash of a camera, Janie seeks sanctuary behind the lens - as a crime scene photographer.

I listened to the book including the fluff of the silly sex scene and endured that but listening to the jury folks dialogue was the pits. I'm still listening to the story but have fast forwarded most of the "click" parts. You'll know when you get there. Could have been a good trial book but.....this needs to 'Get Real'

The line below comes from another reviewer for another book, however, I thought it was so true about Vengeance
'This book goes on and on with small details about things that just does not matter'.

    I just couldn't finish it.

Tried listening to it once, gave up on it quickly then after tried again when I had no more books left to read but gave up again. I did try to like it. The paranormal didn't bother me, it was to my mind a limpid story. Reader's accent was a bit too much also.

An art history professor and writer and cheerful pervert, James Qatar had a hobby: he took secret photographs of women and turned them into highly sexual drawings. One day, he took the hobby a step further and...well, one thing led to another, and he had to kill her. A man in his position couldn't be too careful, after all. And you know something? He liked it.

The “Prey” novels by Pulitzer prize-winning journalist John Sandford consistently make the best-seller lists, but they are not for the faint of heart. Featuring Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, these thrillers are raw, graphic, and impossible to put down. In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer who maims the eyes of his victims after he has murdered them.

In the past... On a blisteringly hot August afternoon in Crystal Palace, once home to the tragically destroyed Great Exhibition, a solitary 13-year-old boy meets his next-door neighbor, a recently widowed young teacher hoping to make a new start in the tight-knit South London community. Drawn together by loneliness, the unlikely pair forms a deep connection that ends in a shattering act of betrayal. In the present... On a cold January morning in London, Detective Inspector Gemma James is back on the job....

I really don't think adding children's dialogue into a mystery is such a good idea. Mentioning them here and there as part of the detectives lives is just fine but I don''t care to hear much more from or about them. It's a detective story is it not? Reader is good even if he had to play the part of a little girl ;-)
