always reading

Loved the story as I always do when it comes to Dorothea Benton Frank. But I was distracted throughout the entire book by the narrator's dialect when she was reading the part of Annie Britt. Any words ending in the sound 'out' such as 'about' came out sounding like 'oot' or 'aboot'. She sounded Canadian, which I can assure you is the last thing a woman born and bred in the Low Country sounds like!

Great book. I always love the Nora Roberts' trilogies. But I wasn't a fan of the male narrator. I would definitely listen to another book narrated by him unless one of the two main characters is female. His narration of all of the male characters was wonderful and very easy to differentiate between each character. The female characters sounded silly and like audio characitures. The older the female, the worse it was. The main female character, Avery, was better than the rest but if she got emotional or excited she sounded juvenile. I do like Mr. Andrews' voice and look forward to hearing him narrate more but hope that his 'lady voices' gain the same depth he gave the male characters.

Loved this book! Loved the Irish narrator! But- the narration was so fast I could hardly keep up! It wasn't bc she was Irish that I had trouble, her diction was very clear and understandable. But the speed of the audio sounded like it had been sped up synthetically, not like someone talking too fast. I even employed the option on my audible app to slow the speed but all that did was put a break in the middle of each word which sounded messed up and wasn't something I could listen to long term. After a long period of listening I would sometimes feel exhausted! But the book was worth it, just hope her next one doesn't sound as if it was mixed by someone on stimulants!

I've listened to several Richard Paul Evans books and prefer it when he doesn't
narrate them himself.

Wonderful story in a series I am thoroughly enjoying. I look forward to reading the next book but if it is narrated by Richard Paul Evans I will be reading it, not listening. I imagine it's difficult to hand your handwritten story over to a stranger to narrate but these people are professionals and this is what they do. In my opinion, he should do what he does best and keep writing these wonderful stories but leave the narrating to professional actors. I also had difficulty with the sound on this book bc sometimes his voice was so quiet I needed to turn the volume up and then he would be booming so loudly I would quickly turn it way down. This was the case through headphones and through the speakers in my car. There wasn't any consistency in the volume control whatsoever. But overall I would recommend the book to a friend, but probably not the audiobook.
