The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out in The Shadow Rising, book four of the Wheel of Time, as The Shadow is rising to cover humankind. In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve. Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn.

Mica says: "The BEST of the Wheel of Time"
    "Excellent Book"
    Overall

I believe this is one of the best in the series. I can't wait for the Fires of Heaven to come out. I really pray it is the unabridged version!

With her greatest enemy dead, and on her way to be reunited with the family she'd been stolen from long ago, Yelena should be pleased. But though she has gained her freedom, she can't help feeling isolated in Sitia. Her Ixian background has changed her in many ways, and her newfound friends and relatives don't think it's for the better....

Kestrel says: "As good as Poison Study, perhaps better"
"Maria Snyder is the sweetest author!"
    Overall

I loved these books. Everyone who reads them loves these books. But more important Maria Snyder (author) is the sweetest person. I wrote to her about Poison to tell her how great it was and she wrote back, 3 times! Then she had a contest to win the prerelease copies of Poison. We had to tell 5 people about the book and they had to email her. She wrote back to me and all 5 of my people with personalized messages and sent me the book. She is just a very thoughtful author when it comes to her readers. Email her. She will write back!

Whitney MacAllister has all the wealth, power, and beauty anyone could ever wish for, and is therefore profoundly bored. Enter Douglas Lord, a good-looking, street-smart thief, who brings Whitney into his world of high adventure and murderous rivals. They come to a business agreement: Whitney will bankroll Douglas on an expedition to retrieve the legendary lost treasure of a long-dead Madagascar queen; in exchange, Whitney will get to come along and keep half the money once they have gained their prize.

    Charlie says: "Amazing Story Line"
    "So funny..."
    Overall

This book saved my sister and I on a car trip from San Jose, CA to Nowhere, TX. We were laughing out loud at the dialogue between Whitney and Doug. The reader did Doug horribly, totally unsexy, but the book was good and you can ignore it.

About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace, and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia. And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster.

A says: "Fantasy, with a touch of romance."
    "Great Book!"
    Overall

This book was wonderful. The reader is excellent, the story is captivating and the romance, while not overtly sexual, was so real. I was finding reasons to drive around just so I could listen longer. The next one in the trilogy is out in the fall...I will be waiting!!

In the final installment of the Tales of the Otori, the young Takeo meets his destiny, fulfilling the prophesy: "You were born into the Hidden, but your life...is no longer your own."

William T. Katz says: "Good trilogy. Book 3 is weakest."
    "This is a great trilogy!"
    Overall

This book is really good! I went through all three in a matter of days! The second one is a bit slow at times but this one definitly makes up for that. There is much more action in this book than the other two, but I felt it was done very well.

Thus begins an epic adventure set in a world of wonders and horror, where what was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

You really must listen ot these books. They are simply very good. Where LOTR was very slow and boring, these books hold your interest and always leave you wanting the next book. They are very long and by the end you wish they were longer :0)
