What happened to Jacques Gaillard? The brilliant teacher at the École Nationale d’Administration, who trained some of France’s best and brightest as future prime ministers and presidents, vanished ten years ago, presumably from Paris. This ten-year-old mystery inspires a bet—one that Enzo Macleod, a biologist teaching in Toulouse, France, instead of pursuing a brilliant career in forensics back home in Scotland, can ill afford to lose.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Too much description over and over about same things.

Would you ever listen to anything by Peter May again?

Yes but he needs less detail and more thrill.

Do you think Dry Bones needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think Enso could develop into a very interesting character.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I really do not want to waste time writing a review because I spent so much time listening to a bad book. Lots of sick thinking and doing with no outcome My advice...listen to something else.

What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They are excellent with the lit they had to work with.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Anger and disappointment

    Any additional comments?

Don't read or listen to it.

Jussi Adler-Olsen is Denmark's premier crime writer. His books routinely top the bestseller lists in northern Europe, and he's won just about every Nordic crime-writing award, including the prestigious Glass Key Award-also won by Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson, and Jo Nesbo. Now, Dutton is thrilled to introduce him to America.

What did you love best about The Keeper of Lost Causes?

Finally a new series I can sink my teeth into. Love the relationship between Carl and his assistant. Story was well done. Looking forward to next one.

What other book might you compare The Keeper of Lost Causes to and why?

Other novels I have most enjoyed were, of course, Stieg Larssen, David Downing, and Hakan Nesser. Thank you Jussi for providing more great listening.

Have you listened to any of Erik Davies’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but he does a great job. My favorite is Simon Vance from Stieg Larsson. Craved more from Mr. Larsson. The world lost a great author when he died.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Perseverance
