"Stephen Covey..."
Stephen Covey...the name speaks volumes...I love Stephen Covey and he didn't disappoint; he never does!
"One of my favorite "reads""
I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have listened to this...the sisters are a little quirky, and their advice is spot on. I have so enjoyed it!
"kick ass..."
Gunnar Fox has a great voice and a very motivational way of speaking...it's not just in his message, it's in the delivery too. I purchased this book to see if I wanted to give it to my step-daughter who is stuggling in her sophmore year of college, not grade wise, but motivation wise, she's not enjoying her college experience and I was looking for something to help her out of her slump. I will definitely be giving her a copy to help her out :)))))
"Great!"
Great message! Great story! Great listen! Jon Gordon has a great voice and is a great reader...it's very easy to listen to him tell a tale!
"Really? Horrible is an understatement!"
For someone who claims to be ADHD, did she listen to her recording? First, it seems that every chapter is one whole run on sentence, there are no breaks or pauses in her unemotional read. Second, is the music which plays along with her reading in much of the small amount I have managed to make it through thus far. In one part, there are people, as in a crowd of people, talking behind her while she is reading. HELLO! Really??? An ADHD person has a hard enough time focusing, paying attention and concentrating without added distractions within the reading to set them off course....WOW, this is terrible and should be re-recorded appropriately, taking the LISTENING AUDIENCE into consideration! Someone else should read this book and the added distractions should be removed! I was so distracted I can't even begin to tell you what it was I listened to...I got NOTHING from it! The only reason it's getting 1 star is because audible requires at least 1 to rate...
"Voice and overlay distracting, good book"
I'm about 1/2 way through this listen right now, and although the material is quite interesting, as others have said, it's really hard to get past the voice. The narrator's voice is so low and monotonous that you find it hard to stay focused on listening. It is also annoying that it doesn't flow and you can tell where edits were made. This one should be re-recorded. Giving 4 stars for the book, -1 for the narrator.
"Simply phenomenal!"
Over the past year both myself and my 8 year old son have been diagnosed with ADHD, both of us predominantly inattentive type (no hyperactivity). Dr Hallowell's book has opened my mind and my eyes to so much. It is because of this book that I even sought diagnosis for myself. I originally purchased the hard copy of this book when my son's teacher indicated she thought he might be ADHD, and as I read part of this book I thought to myself, my goodness, THIS IS ME!!! This is who I have been my entire life...unorganized, absent minded, forgetful, easily distracted, unable to concentrate to follow a conversation without going over what I was going to say next in my own head...and on and on. Needless to say, as an ADHD'er there was no way I was reading this whole book front to cover, as I rarely finish anything, especially a book, that I start. And then I found Audible. I downloaded the book to my phone and on my 90 minute commute each way to work each day, I listened. And I still listen. I have been through the whole audible book at least 4 times and every time I listen I learn something new that I drifted off on the last time I listened! The person narrating has a great voice to listen to and I wish he would have narrated Dr Hallowell's other book. I am eagerly anticipating Dr. Hallowell's new book Married to Distraction! All I can say is thank you...this read/listen is simply awesome for anyone who is or loves someone who has been diagnosed with or you think may have ADHD.
