The book was a little hard to get into but as the characters developed it became MUCH more interesting and hard to "put down"!
It is well worth the listening too!
The "dog" was my most favorite character. If it were only "true!" Speaking from a dog LOVERS point of view!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT this one must have been written & narrated by his sixth grade son!!
The "narration" did not sound @ all like DICK HILL.... The Story resembled "a hunt for a theme" ---- that was never found ----- at least as far as I listened ----- I DID NOT FINISH!!!!!
SUSPENSFUL --- Damning--- OUTSTANDING
The substitute pilot, the main cabin attendant, & the 13 year old girl on the plane. Why, because they carried the main part of the story with some sense of humanity!!!!
I have found that listening to Scott Brick has caused me (GREAT) listening to most all of the books that he has been a part of .... and will continually to do so with pleasure!!
How rotten & self centered some people can be to others. Such as the ones in the management of the airlines & the US Navy Commander! The insurance person are like most insurance companies --- "receiving premiums are great but paying claims are to be avoided @ almost any cost!"
I served in the US NAVY --- & thank GOD THAT I NEVER RAN INTO A FELLOW Commander such as the one in this story!
Kept me awake nights --- could NOT put it down!!!
Mr. Forsyth is usually a very good listen. However there were many parts of the book that just seemed to cause me to drift off to other thoughts. Then I would have to backup and listen to the same part over again.
The narrator had something to do with tediousness of the story --- he seemed to "plod" along with little enthusiasm.
Even though I have read other books of this era --- THIS ONE MADE THE ERA COME TO LIFE IN A PERSONAL SIGNIFICANCE! The reader was great.
The book is well worth a listen!
Reviewing my previous listened to books I have found that Ken Follett's was well worth a second read. The action, mystery, & suspense held my attention as it did a few years ago!!
Give it a try --- it will merit your time!
This story takes me back to my young age (late1930 to early 1940)! The "Let's Pretend" radio show that I almost never missed!
It is a wonderful tell should NOT be MISSED!
I had a great deal of trouble trying to follow the story line! After restarting this "tell" three times it was unquestionable that this book is/was NOT for me. Or my delicate intellect/ psyche!
However the reader was, as usual, GREAT!
The movie was very good! However I like the book even more --- whished the screen writers had followed the book more --- the story seemed a bit more clearer!!
This is a very special story as well as captivating listen! Although there are parts that are 'touching' as well 'heartfelt' no matter the person, profession, or criminal activity.
This one of the BETTER 'Michael Connelly' books that he has written --- I have read almost all!!
