Twenty-seven-year-old Kristi Bentz is lucky to be alive. Not many people her age have nearly died twice at the hands of a serial killer, and lived to tell about it. Her dad, New Orleans detective Rick Bentz, wants Kristi to stay in New Orleans and out of danger. But if anything, Kristi's experiences have made her even more fascinated by the mind of the serial killer.

I suggest you listen to "Absolute Fear" before Lost Souls. Absolute Fear introduces you to Rick Bentz and his daughter Kristi, to Eve (Kristi's half sister) and Cole Dennis and to a seriel killer. Both are great they have so many twist and turns, they keep you wanting to not turn your ipod off

When a student is murdered following a series of threatening messages posted on a college gossip site, NYPD detectives Ellie Hatcher and J.J. Rogan are assigned the case. As they dig deeper, however, they discover the victim was only one of many—and the killer isn’t finished.

Internet Shopper says: "Was it the writing or the narrator?"
    "Good twist at the end.......But"
    Overall

Do not misunderstand I liked the story and it has an unexpected twist at the end, it just took to long to get there. It could have been about one hour shorter if the author had moved things along between the murders a little faster.

Leaving behind her private forensic pathology practice in Charleston, South Carolina, Kay Scarpetta accepts an assignment in New York City, where the NYPD has asked her to examine an injured man on Bellevue Hospital's psychiatric prison ward. The handcuffed and chained patient, Oscar Bane, has specifically asked for her, and when she literally has her gloved hands on him, he begins to talk - and the story he has to tell turns out to be one of the most bizarre she has ever heard.

Becky says: "Don't waste your money"
    "A big disappointment"
    Overall

I have been a fan of Kay Scarpetta's since the first book..But the last couple of Patricia's books on Scarpetta have not been her best work ... I had a hard time getting through this one,but being a Scarpetta fan I kept listening hoping it would get better. Maybe Patricia and Kay need some time apart, so they can get back to where you can't wait to turn the page and see what happens next
